The roster

The Milwaukee Bucks match up against the Brooklyn Nets which was the game of the night as both teams are title favorites and have a history from previous season’s playoffs. The Bucks have a lead in the regular season series with 2-1.

Both teams started with a lineup which was going to be playing most in the playoffs. The Nets went with a lineup of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry, Bruce Brown Jr and Andre Drummond. The Bucks started with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez and Wesley Matthews.

Quarter-by-quarter analysis

With the start of the quarter, both teams made it known that they were not going to back down in any way. They challenged each other on every possession hustling for the ball, creating plays, scoring and defending. It was good to see the Nets team put their work on defense as much as they were on offense. The Nets were up 60-56 in the first half.

In the 3rd quarter, Middleton and Giannis took on the reins as they were sinking shot after shot. However, in the middle of that quarter Bruce Brown steals the ball from Middleton, which led to Middleton fouling him but in the process a Flagrant Foul 2 was called and Middleton was ejected.

The Bucks may have felt vanquished but in the 4th quarter, Jrue Holiday stepped up to the plate alongside the Greek Freak to slim the lead as much as possible. They caught up to the Nets eventually. In the last 30 seconds, the Nets had a 3 point lead. All eyes were on Giannis and he delivers by scoring a 3 to tie the game leading to overtime.

With exhausted legs, both teams took the floor again and it was nail biting affair. They were going after one another scoring points after points. After Durant, sinks the free throws and made it a one point game, Giannis went to the other end for the layup, however, he was blocked by Durant but luckily was fouled by Nicolas Claxton. He made the 2 free throws to get the lead. The last play, Durant took the shot but missed and that was the end of the game.

The Bucks won 120-119 and won the regular season series. It was a spectacular display of basketball from both the title contenders that left a delicious taste on the fans’ mouths. Giannis being the star of the game finished with 44 points, 6 assists and 14 rebounds and his nemesis Durant had 26 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds. After the game, both aces shaked hands towards the upcoming playoffs as if saying ‘Beware of the Playoffs’
