Match Review: Denver Nuggets VS Philadelphia 76ers, March 14, 2022

The most anticipated match of the day was the Denver Nuggets going up against the Philadelphia 76ers. Both centers of the team, Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are the frontrunners for MVP and the best centers in their respective conference. This intense matchup can be compared to the bigs that dominated in the 90s.

The 76ers won their last outing with the Nuggets and were looking to sweep the regular season series. The Nuggets were also eyeing for the win to tie the series and to strengthen their position in their conference.

The 1st Half

As soon as the whistle blew, both teams came clashing against each other. The 76er had the upper hand early on with Embiid leading the charge. Jokic was a bit submissive and was just focusing on making plays to help his teammate get to their spot. Embiid took the opportunity as he made shot after shot.

The first half of the game was dominated by the 76ers thanks to Embiid and Harden’s combined effort. Harden’s implementation on the 76ers has been showing immense results. Although they lost games but there is no denial that he has made the 76ers better with his playmaking.

The 2nd Half

The 2nd half saw a shift in the momentum of the game as rookie Bones Hyland caught fire doing whatever he wants on the court. He shot 3s and slashed inside the basket. Jokic started firing back at Embiid as he attacked the rim more and made jumpshots from the midrange and the 3-point line.

In the 4th Quarter, the pair of Jokic and Hyland pulled the Nuggets team as they started attacking more and even defending well. The final possessions of the game saw, Embiid and Jokic making crucial shots. However, in the final moments, the 76ers froze up as Georges Niang missed the 3 that would have tied the game. The Nuggets won the battle 114-110, evening the series.

Possible Finals Appearance?

Embiid finished with 34 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Jokic almost put up a triple double with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. The difference between the two teams is their 2nd superstar. Philly has Harden but the Nuggets don’t for the time being. With the addition of Jamal Murray, the Nuggets have the potential to make it all the way to the Finals. The 76ers have the chances of reaching the Finals as both Harden and Embiid are hungry for that title that will change their narrative.
It will be interesting to see the result of the game if both teams were to reach the Finals and go head to head. Both teams have Championship caliber roster to get the win. In the end, it will be decided by the fact that which team wants to win the most.
