Match Review: Chicago Bulls VS Miami Heat, April 2, 2022

The Chicago Bulls faced off against the Miami Heat for the 4th and last time this season. The Heat have won their last 3 meetings. With the arrival of the playoffs, the Bulls were eager for the win to prove that they can go against the top teams of the East.

The Heat went with a roster of Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry, Bam Adebayo, Max Strus and PJ Tucker. The Bulls started with a lineup of Ayo Dosonmu, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic and Alex Caruso.

Game Summary

The Bulls started with a good run of Zach LaVine setting into rhythm and making shots after shots. But the Heat hit their stride and they went to their team plays and tight defense. The Bulls clearly missed Lonzo Ball as passes were not connecting and the perimeter is not being guarded well. The 1st half ended with 66-57 lead to the Miami Heat.

The 2nd half was a mirror of the 1st half as the Bulls did not seem to be able to stop the Heat’s run at all. Their offense was being carried by LaVine and DeRozan and they were scoring. Nikola Vucevic could not take advantage of the Heat’s interior. Bam Adebayo did a good job of keeping defenders out of the paint and also taking on guards.

Box Score

The Heat roster evenly distributed the scoring between them. Butler scored 22 points, 6 assists and 7 rebounds. Kyle Lowry distributed the ball among the players as he put up 19 points and 10 assists. Adebayo gave 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Coming off the bench, Tyler Herro gave 19 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.

Zach LaVine gave 33 points, 2 assists and 5 rebounds. Even DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points. Both of the Bull’s aces scored 59 points but the main issue is that nobody else stepped up. Nikola Vucevic needs to score more as he just went for 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Patrick Williams should get the nod to start as he has been crucial on the defensive end getting 3 blocks for the game with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The Heat won the game 127-109 and capped off the regular season series with a 4-0 sweep. The Bulls need to make roster changes and their coach Billy Donovan needs to see that he must make certain changes to put them an edge over the other teams in the East who are killing it right now.
