Match Review: Chicago Bulls VS Los Angeles Clippers, March 31, 2022

The climax of the season is upon us and the teams were going with only winning in their minds. The Chicago Bulls meet the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2nd time this season after coming off a win against them their previous meeting.

The Chicago Bulls went with their usual lineup of Zach Lavine, DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, Ayo Dosonmu and Alex Caruso. The Clippers started with their core players of Reggie Jackson, Paul George, Nicolas Batum, Marcus Morris Sr and Ivica Zubac.

Quarter-by-Quarter analysis

The match started with sparks as Vucevic scored the 1st three baskets by himself. But the Clippers soon hit their stride and took the lead most of the game. Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris was destroying Dosonmu on the post. The 1st half ended with the Clippers leading 59-50.

Sensing trouble Bulls’ coach Billy Donovan made some changes and put in Patrick Williams. With that the Bulls started going off again and cut down the Clippers’ lead vey significantly. In the 4th quarter, the Clipper were leading by 5 points after which DeMar DeRozan took over. He made shots after shots. At the last play he got fouled with 3.5 seconds remaining and he tied the game with 3 seconds remaining.

The game goes to overtime which was all DeMar DeRozan as he showed no sign of stopping. It seemed like DeRozan was possessed by Kobe as he showed no mercy to the Clippers. The Bulls took the game with 135-130 thanks to DeRozan’s final minutes take over.

Box Score

DeRozan finished with 50 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Zach Lavine gave 21 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Nikola Vucevic had 22 points and 14 rebounds. Such performance is expected from the Bulls’ Big 3 as they are expected to perform like that in the NBA Playoffs. Patrick Williams came in clutch time as he put up 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Reggie Jackson led the Clippers with 34 points, 7 assists and 2 rebounds. Paul George gave 22 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Morris was going off in the 1st half but slowed down towards the end as he put up 20 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds. The Clippers roster scored evenly and most of all did what they had to except for finis the game.

With the Playoffs coming, both teams were doing their own bit to win the game. But one team always gets the upper hand due to their stronger will and a better mentality to win. This Playoffs will be a blast to watch as there are definitely going to be moments which will go down in the History books.
