Match Review: Brooklyn Nets VS Orlando Magic, March 15, 2022

The Brooklyn Nets met the Orlando Magic for the 4th time this season. Coming into the game the Nets had the regular season series lead with 2-1. They were looking forward to win the game so as to win the series.

Irving’s razzle dazzle display

Kyrie Irving has been exceptional in this game as he scored 42 points in the first half alone and ended with 60 points for the entire game making 20 of 31 from the field and 8 of 12 from the 3 point line. His performance always mesmerizes the crowd and when a player of his talent makes plays like this, you can’t help but admire.

The other contributions from the Nets included a 19 point game from Kevin Durant, 15 points from Patty Mills who scored only by shooting 3s. Bruce Brown scored 10 points and dished out 8 assists along with it. The offensive firepower of the Nets has the ability to overpower any opponent for the time being.

Magic ship continuing to sink

The bottom seeded Magic felt like they were toyed just by a single player who goes by the name of Irving. None of the Magic players scored 20 points which shows why they are in the bottom seed. However, the Magic are currently on their rebuilding phase so their struggles are understood.

Cole Anthony, who is the face of the franchise for the timing, has scored 19 points and dished out 7 assists the entire game. Moritz Wagner ended up with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Wendell Carter Jr. has been enjoying his new role in the Magic has put up 18 points,7 rebounds and 4 assists.

The game ended with the Nets blowing out the Magic, 150-109. The Nets are firmly sitting on the 8th seed of the Eastern Conference and it would take them 3 wins more to grab the 7th seed. The Nets have put the league on notice with their unstoppable duo of Durant and Irving operating simultaneously.

The only thing holding the Nets back is Irving’s home games problem due to the vaccination protocol. It is a waste especially for the Nets fans to see an All-Time great like Kyrie Irving not being able to play at their home games when he is putting up monster performances on the road. After KD’s comments to the New York City Mayor, Eric Adams, it is only a matter of time before Irving can play in Brooklyn.
