Marvel’s Secret Invasion: Emilia Clarke Explains Why She Joined The Cast

Emilia Clarke explained the reason why she joined Marvel for Secret Invasion. Marvel Studios is expanding its TV footprint after successfully launching its small screen debut with WandaVision. All of this will be available on Disney+ exclusively.

Few of the upcoming projects under Marvel is Secret Invasion, which will see Nick Fury being back in the game and Talos the Skrull who first got together in Captain Marvel. It was rumoured initially that Marvel wanted to create a series that focuses on the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director. There were also assumptions that it might be about him when he was much younger. However, during Disney’s Investor Day in December 2020, MCU architect, Kevin Feige, announced Secret Invasion TV series.

Ever since then, the casting for the series is being filled out. Samuel L. Jackson will be joined by ben Mendelson as they reprise their roles. The series is also set to bring in newcomers like Oliva Colman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, and Emilia. All the newcomers have remained silent about their involvement with the project but Emilia has confirmed that she is the part of the series.

The Game of Thrones star sat down with Comic Book to promote her new Image Comic miniseries, M.O.M.: Mother of Madness. She explained why she opted to get on board with Marvel Studios. The actress expressed how impressed she is with what Marvel is doing right now.

“(And) I think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”

“I just think what they’re doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world,” Clarke explained. “To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.'” Emilia further expressed that the people that are making this are what pushed her over the line to really want to do it. She said, “I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one.”

The plot of Secret Invasion has remained a secret so far in typical Marvel fashion. At the moment, the production has not started either. There is no confirmed premiere date for the venture as Marvel Studios is already busy with other Disney+ content. Loki is the latest project that is set to premiere next Wednesday.

It is difficult to predict which character Emilia will be portraying. However, among the list of characters, she could portray Queen Veranke and Abigail Brand. But if we see the former Game of Thrones star’s acting skills, she can play pretty much anyone. Her comments on Marvel Studios being “cutting edge” is interesting as MCU is going through a transition phase after the Infinity Saga.

The beloved founding members of the franchise have left which has increased the risk that comes with it trying to re-establish. But so far with WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel is doing an outstanding job at entertaining the fans.
