Mariah Carey Teases Movie Or TV Series Based On Her New Memoir

Mariah Carey opened up about her book The Meaning of Mariah Carey as she reveals it might be making a jump from page to screen. The singer made an appearance in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and discussed her new memoir.

The host Jimmy asked the singer about the rumor of having her book into a movie or a TV series. She responded by saying they are in talks about the same and revealed it has been her goal always because she feels like it should be like that. “But it was important to write the book first, ’cause there’s so much, and then to pick and choose how we translate that,” she continued.

Jimmy shared how he heard Lee Daniels was going to take up the project. He directed Mariah’s 2009’s Precious. However, the singer remained tight-lipped about the same. She shared how she loves Lee and is one of her dearest friends and gets her in a way most people don’t.

The Fantasy singer shared, “But I’m not allowed to say yes, no, maybe so. Only Lee. Only Lee tells little leaks about things.” And when it comes to the casting of the legend on screen, she admitted to not being sure about it. She shared that her team is currently fighting out different takes on that.

“As you know, there’s a lot of … they’re gonna have to have quite the range,” she said of a potential actress. (The book takes readers from Carey’s childhood up to the present day.)

The singer is in the full holiday mood as it is her favorite time of the year. She brought Christmas early this year as she starred in Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special. The show aired on AppleTV+ as it consisted of artists spreading the holiday cheer.

This would be perfect for everyone as this year has been quite difficult for everybody in different ways. The show is available exclusively for Apple TV+ subscribers. It has premiered on December 4 with Sony Pictures Television. The venture becomes even more special as Tiffany Haddish opens up a book and narrates a story.

The show also included coronavirus in it as the trailer shows a snowman wearing a mask next to a closed sign. Tiffany says that Santa decided the season could not be merry without Mariah Carey.

“I’ve got a great story to tell ya,” narrator Tiffany says while opening a book. “‘Twas the night before Christmas and 2020 had been wrecked, so Santa decided that season couldn’t be merry, without the one and only Mariah Carey.”

The Fantasy singer adds: ‘This season, we could all use a little magic’ before dropping a curtain and revealing a snowy village landscape full of dancers, twirlers, and candy canes as her 1994 standard All I Want for Christmas Is You begins to play.

Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special

Tiffany was not the only artist we will get to see, the show also includes Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson. The duo will be performing with Mariah on the song Oh Santa! The song was released the same day the show premiered as the three beautiful singers sing the 2010 track.

The show is directed by Hamish Hamilton, who has also been a longtime Super Bowl halftime show director. Along with him will be Roman Coppola, who was the co-writer for the Moonrise Kingdom.
