According to our favourite variant of Loki, Tom Hiddleston says that discussions about the next season have already begun. The first season of the series had debuted early last month and had picked up right where we saw the God of Mischief in Endgame. He had disappeared with the Tesseract during the New York leg of the Avengers’ time heist.
However, Loki was then brought in by the Time Variance Authority for crimes against the Sacred Timeline. The character was taken to their headquarters where he agreed to help Agent Mobius catch an evil Loki who has been killing the TVA agents. Evil Loki turned out to be the female version of Loki a.k.a. Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino).
The 6-episode series had plenty of surprises in store for the viewers. And Sylvie was not just another Loki, as she was determined to end the TVA and the Sacred Timeline. The TVA was later on revealed to have surprising origins and the Time-Keepers were believed to be the ultimate rulers of the multiverse. However, it turned out to be a sham that was actually controlled by a greater power. There are no doubts that the MCU’s third series on Disney+ turned out to be a superhit, just like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
However, unlike both of those series, Loki had a post-credits scene; where it was revealed that the show will be back for a second season. Tom Hiddleston has revealed that they are already in “deep discussions” regarding the upcoming season. The actor expressed his gratitude towards fans and his excitement for the future of Loki.
“We are already in discussions. Deep, deep, deep discussions.”
He expressed his gratitude to be able to do season 1; and that he still finds it difficult to process that they have another season. Tom shared, “I am so excited by the possibilities. We are already in discussions. Deep, deep, deep discussions. I can’t wait to get started. (And) I want to say thank you to the audience because without the audience, we wouldn’t be able to make a Season 2. I hope Season 1 was full of surprises. And I think Season 2 will be full of even more.”
The season 1 finale was titled, For All Time. Always and it revealed the one behind the TVA, the greater power, He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). Fans had already been speculating that it was Kang, the Conqueror but they were confused; because the character was confirmed to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, the character is not referred to as his name in the season finale of Loki but the series ended on a massive cliffhanger.
Loki’s finale set up the coming future of MCU at large. There was also news that Loki will be appearing in Doctor Strange 2; which was written by Loki’s head architect, Michael Waldron. This can lead to the second season of Loki as the two could act as companions in the Multiverse of Madness. The second season is expected to release sometime in 2023.
