Lalisa Manoban, aka Lisa of BLACKPINK, is one of the representative faces of K-Pop in the world today. The little Thai girl who beat 4,000 applicants to secure a place in YG years ago, is today one of the most loved and popular celebrities globally. Lisa moved to South Korea in 2011 to become a trainee at YG and made her debut as a BLACKPINK member in 2016. Later on, she made her official solo debut with two songs – Lalisa and Money – in September 2021.
Both the songs that Lisa released as part of her solo debut witnessed great success. Her album, which only consists of two songs, went on to break the record for the most streamed Spotify album by a K-pop soloist. In addition, Money, the album’s B-side, surpassed all other K-pop soloist songs in Spotify streaming. Lisa also broke another impressive record recently, when she became the fastest K-pop act to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. In addition, the song, “Lalisa” recently became the first song to spend an entire year charting on The Billboard Hot Trending Songs Chart.
Even though Lisa did not release new solo music in 2022, she still managed to remain a hot topic throughout the year. She made her comeback as a BLACKPINK member with the group’s second full album “Born Pink” which was released in September, along with the music video for the title track Shut Down. Currently, the BLACKPINK rapper and dancer is busy touring the world with her group.
NetBase Quid has announced that LISA ranked #1 in the world as a female artist among the Top 10 Most Talked about artists on social media. According to the list, LISA ranked 7th overall which is also THE FIRST among K-pop female solo artists in the world and THE ONLY record among Blackpink members.
