The former One Direction member caused quite a ruckus yesterday when he appeared on YouTube Logan Paul’s Podcast Interview program. Liam made all kinds of controversial comments that were not received well by the general public and the former One Direction fans.
Liam talked about Zayn Malik and his opinion of his former bandmate. Logan was discussing Zayn and his brother, Jake Paul’s feud with the latter. They further discussed how Gigi had come in defense of him for being “irrelevant” and “ugly”. She also described the singer as a “respectful king” on Twitter which went viral.
Liam added to Logan’s comment and said, “She tweeted something about get yourself a respectful man or something. That one didn’t age very well.” The former One Direction member was hinting at the couple’s breakup. They called it quits after Zayn allegedly pushed Yolanda Hadid into a dresser and for calling her a “f**king Dutch s**t”.
“There’s many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there’s many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side,” Liam said.
“You can always look at the man for where he is and say ‘Whatever, that guy’s a dick,’ but at the end of the day once you understand what he’s been through to get to that point and also if he even wanted to be there. I’m so misunderstood by myself more than anyone… I can’t sit here and dick on him… I can’t commend some of the things he’s done, I can’t be on his side for that.”
Naturally, Liam received strong reaction after his comments where fans pointed out his “failed” career as a musician and “racist” undertones in his comments on Zayn. Some One Directions fans found it hard to believe that it was the same Liam saying those things about Zayn, who used to love and support his brothers.
Liam Clarifies His Remarks
After fans’ reaction, today Liam took to his Twitter to clarify what he’d said the previous day.
“Guys – I wouldn’t normally comment on this stuff but when its your family it’s hard to let it slide.
They mentioned a specific incident involving Zayn which I responded to – but listening back maybe I didn’t articulate myself as well as I could have.”
“I was saying that there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side. That’s family. Zayn is my brother and I will stand by him forever.” wrote Liam in his Tweets.
