No one would have expected the Los Angeles Lakers to so perform so badly at the start of the NBA season. When the Lakers assembled their roster, many analysts and fans alike, primed them to win the NBA championship. But the Lakers have looked like a pale shadow of themselves, with even some of the weakest teams in the NBA having their way with the Los Angeles Lakers.
LeBron James spoke after the Lakers’ latest loss to the Houston Rockets. James explained that they have had very little room for mistakes, and opposition teams have pounced on every small and big mistake that they have made. James concluded by saying that the Lakers have a very small margin for error this season.
LeBron said, “We just don’t have a lot of room for error. We make a mistake or we break down defensively or we don’t get a good look at the basket, teams are literally making us pay every time. It’s not like we’re getting away with things. It’s just that simple. We have a very small margin of error this year and teams are making us pay.”
LeBron also took the blame upon himself and mentioned about his slip-up in performance on the night. James had a 23-point triple-double, but had a very poor shooting night according to his standards, making only 9 of his 26 attempted shots. James explained what went wrong on the night and promised that he would be better during the Lakers’ next game against the Washington Wizards.
This loss has surely sounded the death knell for the Lakers’ and their chances of making the playoffs have been severely dented. With each passing game, the Lakers are running out of time to figure things out. They are dangerously close to miss out on the NBA playoffs this season. Given the talented players they have at their disposal, this would be unacceptable. No team with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook available for most of the season should be missing the playoffs and losing the way the Lakers are.
