Laurence Fishburne Returns As The Bowery King In John Wick 4

In John Wick: Chapter 4, Laurence Fishburne states that he will reprise his role as The Bowery King. The highly anticipated action sequel is finally back on track after being delayed owing to the coronavirus outbreak. The fourth instalment of John Wick is set to hit theatres in May 2022, and director Chad Stahelski is gearing up to start filming this summer. The cast and crew will travel to places such as New York, Japan, and Berlin for the filming.

The John Wick 4 supporting cast has rounded into shape ahead of filming. Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama, Bill Skarsgrd, and Shamier Anderson are among the newcomers to the franchise who have been cast thus far.

They’ll all be joining Keanu Reeves in the titular role, which he’ll be repeating. But Reeves isn’t the only John Wick alum returning; one of his former co-stars is also returning.

The Ice Road

Fishburne discusses his future with John Wick in an interview with Collider to promote his new film The Ice Road. He revealed he’ll be reprising his role as The Bowery King, adding that he’ll be in Berlin “within a couple of months or so.”

According to Collider, the “Mr. Watanabe” Fishburne mentions in his comments is a John Wick 4 character, not a movie actor. Mr. Watanabe might possibly be Yen’s character, who is reportedly John Wick’s old acquaintance, based on the description. It’ll be fascinating to see how that relationship plays out in the sequel’s tale.

There’s a case to be made that John Wick 4 would benefit from less mythology, but each installment’s calling card is to expand the world-building. Whatever happens, it should be entertaining to witness The Bowery King and John Wick partner up again in a life-or-death struggle.
