The world is burning and flooding and it is important to keep in mind that individualism won’t solve the problem. But there might be few people who could reduce their carbon footprint and this includes our super-rich people who fly around with literal private jets.
These jets are used by the rich but celebrities, in particular, have been receiving flak lately for their frequent use of jets. This includes Drake, and Kylie Jenner, who took flights that did not even last 20 minutes.
Now, a sustainability marketing firm, Yard has put together a report using data that ranks celebrities whose private jets have flown the most this year. This also means that individual has dumped the most carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Both Drake and Jenner are on the list but they are nowhere near the top. The top place is reserved by Taylor Swift. As per the data collected by Yard, Swift has flown 170 times between January 1 and July 19. She has been up in the air for almost 15.9 days which means the estimated total flight emissions will be 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon.
This is clearly way more than the average person’s total annual emissions. As per Yard, it is 1,184.8 times more. Her jet is also loaned to other people as per a spokesperson for Taylor. Hence, the spokesperson says that we cannot say it was all her because that would be incorrect.
After Swift, Floyd Mayweather is next on the list as his aircraft has been said to emit 7076.8 tonnes of CO2 from 177 flights this year. One of those flights was only 10 minutes. Jay-Z comes in third on the list, although his placement comes with a caveat.
The singer’s data is tied to Puma Jet and it has been reported that he is not the only person flying on Puma Jet. Kylie Jenner, is surprisingly on number 19 and is between Jim Carey and Tom Cruise. Meanwhile, Drake is in number 16.
