Keanu Reeves reveals the one role he wanted to play. In his interview on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, Keanu talked about the part he would have loved to play. He came on the show with Alex Winter to promote their upcoming film Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Andy asked them what roles they had dreamed of playing to which Keanu responded saying, “I always wanted to play Wolverine.” Alex, however, said it is not too late for Keanu to play the role.
Keanu laughed shaking his head and said it is too late. He said he is all good with it now. Andy asked the actor if he really wanted to play that role and he agreed, saying Frank Miller’s Wolverine.
We are aware that Hugh Jackman went on to play Wolverine, the iconic comic book character since 2000. He played the character in X-Men and all of its sequels, however, unfortunately, the character died in its last movie, Logan.
Hugh had revealed on The Tonight Show that he auditioned for 20 seconds for the role. “When I walked into that room, I was pretty sure that I wasn’t playing the role,” the actor said. Jimmy Fallon, showed a clip of Hugh’s audition for the fan-favorite character.
Hugh revealed it was a weird audition as Dougray Scott was already selected for the role of Wolverine. However, the actor got caught up with Mission Impossible 2 and everybody thought it would be sorted out.
He said the studio wanted a backup in case, Dougray could not be a part. Hugh said, “It was like this Hail Mary to begin with, which is probably the best way to do an audition. You’re going in like ‘Eh.’ “
John Wick Is Back
“I think the entire audition was about 20 seconds,” he added. “It wasn’t much longer.” Although Hugh did a great job of portraying the role, we would have really loved to see Keanu reprise the role of Wolverine.
In other news, recently, John Wick is reported to return and entertain us by next year yet again. John Wick 4 is expected to be released in 2022 on Memorial Day. Wait for it, there is more. While John Wick 4 is being filmed John Wick 5 will also be shot back-to-back.
Lionsgate studio confirmed on Thursday that the popular series will continue to entertain us while also giving us an extra film as well. According to Deadline, the series will continue with John Wick 4 and 5.
During an earnings call, CEO John Feltheimer mentioned about preparing to build scripts for the further installments. He said John Wick 4 is slated to release next year on Memorial Day. “We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 & 5 back-to-back when Keanu becomes available early next year,” he added.
Keanu is said to be shooting for Matrix 4 by Warner Bros. He is back again with Jada Pinkett Smith and Carrie-Anne Moss for the film. John Wick 3 made almost $56.8 million in its opening weekend. Because of that Lionsgate decided to go ahead with the fourth and even the fifth installment.
In May last year, director Chad Stahelski discussed the future of the film. “People ask me this all the time, am I ending the movie for a cliffhanger? Is there a number four it’s headed for,” Stahelski said. “Keanu and I have never, from one to two, two to three, ever expected to do a sequel or a follow-up.”
Bill and Ted Face the Music is in theaters August 27.
