Katy Perry is set to perform at the digital music festival of Tomorrowland Around the World.
The singer has joined the line for the festival as she expects her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom. The festival will take place between July 25 and 26.
Katy will be one of the 60 artists who perform in the music festival. The world’s most prominent artists will be taking eight stages set up for the huge online music extravaganza. Katy announced her participation in the event in a video call with Martin Garrix.
The singer said she always wanted to be a part of Tomorrowland. She revealed that she has been following up on the amazing innovation, technology, and invention that this festival has always been about for a long time. “I’m so glad to be a part of this version, and I hope my set makes you smile,” Katy said.
The digital music festival will take place between 4pm and 1am CEST on both Saturday July 25 and Sunday July 26. Alongside Katy, artists including Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Don Diablo, and Modestep will also be taking to the stage.
The people who want to attend the festival can easily be a part through a PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet. They will be able to explore the entire festival site with all the different stages. It also enables you to attend it in an interactive way together with friends.
Tickets to the online event cost €12.50 ($14) for a day, while the weekend tickets are priced at €20 ($23). Which, however, includes a week of video-on-demand content to relive the entire experience.
Katy recently opened up about her long-time feud with Taylor Swift and said they fight like cousins. The duo have buried their differences but Katy joked about their feud. She addressed it on Capital Breakfast With Roman Kemp after there was a rumor floating around saying the duo were ninth cousins. ‘Well, we fight like cousins,’ said the pregnant star.
It was Sian Welby who brought up the rumor about Katy and Taylor being ninth cousins. He said that her baby might have a very famous aunt and revealed the rumor to her. Katy said they fight like cousins and that she did not hear the rumor. However, she joked about getting a DNA test with Taylor.
The duo’s feud began in 2014 when Katy was acussed of taking away some of Taylor’s dancers. Cut to this year, Katy revealed she texts Taylor a lot. The Dark Hors’ hitmaker said: ‘Well, we don’t have a very close relationship because we are very busy, but we text a lot.’
Katy has previously praised Taylor for her vulnerability and her Natflix documentary, Miss Americana. The singer revealed that she saw some self-awareness and vulnerability in her documentary. She further expressed her excitement for Taylor to be able to show that side. The singer said that things aren’t perfect, they don’t have to be and it’s more beautiful when they aren’t.
Katy said that it was difficult yet important to make that appearance in the music video because people want people to look up to. She revealed that they wanted it to be an example of unity. Katy said forgiveness is important and powerful. She said, ” If you can forgive your enemy, that’s amazing. As difficult as it is!”
Meanwhile Taylor previously revealed her and Katy blamed their zodiac signs for their feud. She explained saying that they were discussing about their zodiac signs while having a really long talk to reconnect. Taylor said Katy was like if they had one glass of white wine, they’d be crying right now.
Taylor further said, “Because we were drinking tea. We’ve had some really good conversations. We were talking about how we’ve had miscommunications with people in the past, not even specifically with each other.” She recalled Katy saying that she is a Scorpio and they strike when they feel threatened. To which Taylor said that she is a Saggitarius and how they access a situation, raise a bow, pull it back, and fire.
She further revealed that it is a different way of processing pain, confusion, misconception.
Just last this week, Katy debuted her upcoming album cover, Smile, on Instagram. She was a glamorous, sad clown for the cover. Katy revealed that the title track of the album was written during one of her darkest times. The singer also said that the album is about her journey towards the light.
Katy was teasing her album cover in an innovative way by sharing virtual circus games for her fans to play online. She gave the vibe of a retro circus and captioned her post writing, ‘step right up! step right up!’
‘KP5 is called #SMILE,’ the popstar wrote along with a circus emoji. Smile is Katy’s fifth studio album, hence the ‘KP5’.
Katy has been open about how excited she and Orlando are for welcoming their new baby into this world. Orlando described it as being a magical time for him when an angel comes to the earth. He is looking forward to all the sleepless nights and wants to be present for Katy.
Katy’s new album, Smile, drops August 14 but is already available for pre-order.
