Katy Perry Announces Her Fifth Album ‘Smile’ will be Delayed

Katy Perry has to delay her fifth album, Smile. The singer took to Instagram to give us the bad news.

Although it was an innovative and hilarious way to let us know that Smile won’t be coming anytime soon. Katy was dressed a clown and had a pie thrown at her face. She said that she herself hated that she has to share this news like a pie thrown to our faces.

The singer further said that 2020 has taught her not to get attached to anything. ‘Welp. I hate to throw this bad news at you like a pie in the face…but if there’s anything 2020 taught me, it’s to not get too attached to plans and be malleable,’ she said.

Katy Perry is expecting her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom. She mom-to-be further added that because of unavoidable production delay, her album will release two weeks later on August 28.

Katy revealed the music video to her catchy song, Smile in mid July. She was having fun in the promo video and showing off her baby bump. The video witnessed Katy’s goofy side as she dances around and cleans a set of teeth with a brush.

The song was released to promote her new album, Smile which was originally going to release on August 14. It is also the time when Katy is expected to bring her little bundle of joy into this world.

‘There’s a lot that will be happening this summer,’ Katy teased recently, ‘not only will I be giving birth – literally – but also figuratively, to something you guys have been waiting for.’

Katy was a glamorous, sad clown for the cover of Smile. She revealed that the title track of the album was written during one of her darkest times. The singer also said that the album is about her journey towards the light.

Katy was teasing her album cover in an innovative way by sharing virtual circus games for her fans to play online. She gave the vibe of a retro circus and captioned her post writing, ‘step right up! step right up! KP5 is called #SMILE,’ the pop star wrote along with a circus emoji. Smile is Katy’s fifth studio album, hence the ‘KP5’.

Katy has been open about how excited she and Orlando are for welcoming their new baby into this world. Orlando described it as being a magical time for him when an angel comes to the earth. He is looking forward to all the sleepless nights and wants to be present for Katy.

Katy’s new album, Smile, drops on August 28 now. But it is already available for pre-order.
