Netflix has roped in the thriller Dhamaka which features the popular Bollywood actor, Kartik Aaryan. The film will be releasing exclusively on the streaming service.
Kartik will be portraying the role of a news anchor who gets stuck in a situation with a mysterious bomb blast and must make a choice between his future career or the humanist in him. The film is actually a remake of the Korean film, The Terror Live which premiered back in 2013.
The cast includes Mrunal Thakur (“Love Sonia”), Amruta Subash (“Choked”), Vikas Kumar (“Aarya”) and Vishwajeet Pradhan (“Class of ’83”) along with Kartik. Dhamaka is directed by Ram Madhvani who was also a part of the Disney plus Hotstar project series called Aarya. The second season of the show is now in production.
The venture is produced by Disney India chief Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and Ram Madhvani Films in association with Lotte Cultureworks, Globalgate Entertainment and Lionsgate. Ram shared that Amita Madhvani and him and their full team at Ram Madvani Films with the team at RSVP are extremely thrilled.
He said, “Amita Madhvani and I and our full team at Ram Madhvani Films; with the team at RSVP are thrilled that our film ‘Dhamaka’ will be on Netflix”. The director shared that they know this is only their first step to a continuing relationship with the platform. He further added how he highly respects that and will reach national and international audiences.
“I have been wanting to collaborate with Kartik Aaryan for some years now.”
Ram said he has been wanting to collaborate with Kartik Aaryan for few years now. He shared that he is thrilled he wanted to do the venture and everyday the actor gave his all.
The director said, “I have been wanting to collaborate with Kartik Aaryan for some years now. And I’m thrilled he wanted to do ‘Dhamaka’. Every day Kartik gave his all to the 360-degree system with which I work. His full involvement, his passion, his precise calibration as an actor is something that I hugely respect. It would be great to collaborate with him again because he made my work better.”
Kartik entered the industry through his hits Pyaar ka Punchnama (2011) and its sequel Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015). He has further become a household name and included himself in Bollywood’s A-list with Sonu Titu Ki Sweety (2018). His upcoming ventures include Dostana 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
The actor opened up about Dhamaka as he shared it has been a very exciting and enriching experience for him as an actor. He shared that working with a “maverick” like Ram Madhvani; has allowed him to explore and showcase a new facet of his personality.
