Kanye West opened up in a podcast with Nick Cannon, ‘Cannon’s Class’. The rapper reflected back to the abortion and many more things.
Kanye talked about his presidential campaign and also did not hold back while talking about his personal life, particularly the moment when Kim almost aborted daughter, North. He said for the people who were tearing him down for crying that because of South Carolina, many people have chosen to not abort.
The rapper recalled the time he broke down during his South Carolina rally raising concerns for his health. “And if they were on the fence about it, they never saw anyone in my position take that position and say, ‘Look at this. This is a 7-year-old right here. And she might have never made it here,’” he continued.
Kanye revealed that his father made him apologize for bringing this issue publicly. He said his father said that abortion culture teaches people that a child isn’t a real soul. The rapper revealed that it was Kim who said it is a soul and she had the pills, which was the scariest thing for him. He said you take the pills and the next day, the baby is gone.
According to Planned Parenthood, abortion pills Kanye refers to are a safe and effective way to end an early pregnancy. The medication combines two different medicines: mifepristone and misoprostol. However, where and when these medicines are available is dependent “upon state laws and your health center’s policies,” per Planned Parenthood.
Kanye On Interrupting Taylor in 2009
Kanye caused quite a stir with his anti-abortion comments and his revelation of his personal life publicly. It especially affected his relationship with his wife, Kim. The Kardashians took care of Kim and Kanye’s children while the couple sorted out their issues. Fortunately, they have worked things out and are doing much better.
The couple is married for six years and shares four kids, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Things are settling between the couple, who have put their children as the priority.
Kanye also talked about Taylor Swift in the podcast episode which aired on September 1. Back in 2009, Kanye interrupted Taylor’s winning speech for Best Video for ‘You Belong With Me‘. The rapper went on-stage and said Beyonce had one of the best video and she deserved to win the award for ‘Single Ladies‘.
He explained that he went on-stage because God told him to. Kanye said, “God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row. I would be sitting at the back.” The rapper added that it wouldn’t have been ridiculous because he didn’t hear of Taylor before. He said Single Ladies was one of the greatest videos of all time.
Kanye also revealed he wasn’t drinking and said he was only drinking Hennessy because he did not want to attend. He claimed that he did not want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up.
The rapper also revealed when he started becoming close to God. He said back in 2016, he was admitted to the hospital and that is when he started reading the Bible.
Kanye said, “That was part of what God hit me with. And you know, God … has a calling on all of us, and he uses us in different ways. When I went to the hospital the first time, one of the things I wrote down was ‘start a church in Calabasas.’ And we sang Jesus’ name to the hills in the center of the city of Los Angeles.”
However, the rapper also admitted that he still wanted to be the ‘cool guy’ within the music industry. “I’m not going to lie to you, I like being cool. I didn’t go into an environment to come off uncool,” he said.
