Jon Moxley vs. CM Punk, The AEW Dynamite Event Next Week Will Feature A World Title Unification Match

In next week’s AEW Dynamite, a huge main event has been announced. On the next show, AEW World Champion CM Punk will confront Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. During an in-ring segment, both men dropped pipe bombs on each other, resulting in the match. This sparked a massive brawl, which was broken up by security. Moxley later returned and demanded that the match take place tonight, but security intervened once more.

The game is scheduled for next week. Several matches for upcoming events have been announced:

  • AEW Rampage (this Friday) – TrustBusters v/s Best Friends (Trios Tournament match)
  • Penelope Ford vs. Athena – ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli will make an appearance
  • FTW Champion Hook vs. Zack Clayton
  • Swerve in our Glory vs. Private Party
  • AEW World Tag Team Champions

Punk wasn’t seen on AEW TV ever since June 3 show of Rampage, when he revealed he would’ve been forced to miss time due to a foot injury. Punk’s surgery was successful a few days later. When he appeared at AEW’s board for the San Diego Comic-Con in July, he still appeared to be in pain from the injury, raising the question of when he’d be prepared to go. In scenario the final moments of Dynamite didn’t answer your question, a report released has you covered.

CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley

The work plan for the main event at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view is, in fact, CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley to determine the undisputed AEW World Champion, as disclosed before. The report also confirmed that this had been the hope among those in AEW since Punk’s injury, and that there had never been any thought of bringing Punk back sooner, with the feeling being that AEW didn’t want to put his recovery behind the eight ball.

The waiting is the most difficult part, but it also adds to the excitement of the return. Many of CM Punk’s fan base have been waiting for his return as he was benched by a serious foot injury months earlier. The injury occurred on the June 1 show of Dynamite, just days after Punk defeated Hangman Adam Page to win the AEW World Championship at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Punk revealed his injury during a live episode of Rampage on June 3.
