Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley Has Signed An Open Contract For An AEW World Title Match At All Out

After a brief layoff due to injury, CM Punk came back to the ring on the August 24, 2022 version of AEW Dynamite, intent on reclaiming his AEW World Championship. Finally, he’d return to face interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and try to reclaim the title he never truly lost. Unfortunately for him and all those holding out hope to see him leave the arena as the undisputed champion that night, that did not happen.

In an unexpected turn of events, Moxley easily defeated Punk, who emerged to reinjure himself during brief battle. So, with Punk seemly out of the running for the title, who would Moxley compete against for the gold at All Out 2022? Eventually, we have a response: CM Punk. Moxley delivered a scathing promo against Punk on the August 31 episode of AEW Dynamite. He also left an open agreement in the ring, which Ace Steel accepted before retiring.

Later in the telecast, a dejected Punk entered the ring to apologise to his hometown Chicago, Illinois crowd for his damage the previous week. Steel responded by joining him between the ropes and encouraging the audience to remind Punk what he is. Steel and the fans’ motivation fired up Punk, spurring him to take to the stage and sign the agreement while taunting Moxley. All Out will be headlined by CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley in an AEW World Championship rematch. On September 4, the event will take place at Chicago’s Now Arena.

Punk’s Motivation

However, Punk’s motivation has never been monetary. He’s not a limo-driving, jet-flying son of a gun woo!! However, he selects his locations based on the what he desires to do. Cary Silkin, ROH’s previous owner, disclosed that the Voice of the Voiceless nearly made a dramatic reunion before joining AEW. Silkin explained, I called him a couple of years ago.

There was a chance he’d return to Ring of Honor, and I put him in touch with the power and authority, who told me that this time it just wasn’t a mutually advantageous situation, that’s it. Punk, ironically, could still make a comeback to ROH now that AEW President Tony Khan does own it too. Fans were taken aback when CM Punk appeared on Carpool Karaoke alongside Bryan Danielson, Britt Baker, & Christian Cage.
