Johnny Depp had secretly recorded one of his rows with Amber Heard which was two-hours long. She called him a ‘big f*****g baby’ and admitted to starting the physical fight.
The audio was published by Depp’s legal team yesterday at the High Court. Heard started her first day of giving evidence in her ex-husband’s libel trial with The Sun. Depp was described as a ‘wife-beater’ in one of their articles.
The argument began with the former couple discussing over whether Heard punched him. Heard was heard screaming, ‘I did not punch you, I did not deck you, I hit you – but you’re fine, I did not hurt you’.
Depp was insisted she had a closed fist and Heard said that is the difference between her and him. She calls him a baby and tells him to grow up. Depp continues to tell her that she would start physical fights with him. He said that is why he always had to get out of there after she struck him.
Amber admits to starting the physical fights and said he did the right thing. She asks him what about the times when there is no physical fight and he still runs away. The actress continues saying he can still call her names and calls him a hypocrite and a baby.
She said, ‘You can still call me names. You’re a hypocrite, you’re a baby, if they give a taste of it to you, you f**ing lose it, but yet you dish it out.’
Heard Admits to Being Violent
Heard said that she was only violent with Depp when she felt her life was threatened. She was asked by Laws why all the witnesses had only seen her attack Depp. Heard responded saying that the fights happened behind closed doors and claimed they did not see their arguments.
Heard admitted to never being violent for many years in the relationship. She said she did not try to defend herself but when she felt her life was threatened, it started to happen. The actress said, ‘But when I felt my life was threatened, I tried to defend myself but that started to happen years into the relationship, years into the violence before that I didn’t even try to defend myself, I just checked out.’
The court then heard the recording of Depp and Heard‘s conversation where she admits to starting the violence. In another recording she admitted to throwing pots and pans at Depp. She said she did that to escape him.
Heard alleged she was afraid that Depp was going to kill her. She claimed he threatened her many times. The actress also said he is very good at manipulating people. Heard alleged that Depp would blame his actions on a ‘self-created third party’ he called the ‘monster’.
Heard began her three days of giving evidence yesterday at the Royal Courts of Justice. In a written statement, she accused Depp of physical and verbal abuse towards her. She alleged: ‘Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far.’
Heard Claims Johnny Uses His Charisma
Her statement also states that Depp has unique ability to use his charisma to convey whatever he desires to. She also said she has never been with anyone like Depp and admitted that the relationship was the best initially.
She went on to say: ‘When Johnny puts his attention on you, with all his intensity and darkness, it is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. When I say he was dark, he had a violent and dark way of speaking: the way he talked about our relationship being ‘dead or alive’ and telling me that death was the only way out of the relationship.’
Heard further added that Depp lives in a ‘state of weaponised victimhood’. She said she thought she could fix Depp and thought he would get better. The actress alleged that his team used to ask her to stay with him, often telling her he would get clean.
Heard is facing questioning over 14 allegations of domestic violence that she made against Depp. However, all the allegations were denied by Depp during the first week of the libel claim.
Depp and Heard met on the film set of The Rum Diary in 2011. They began living together the following year before marrying in Los Angeles in February 2015.
Heard obtained a domestic violence restraining order against Depp in LA shortly after the couple split in 2016. She later donated her $7million US dollars (£5.5 million) divorce settlement to charity.
Depp is suing NGN and Dan Wootton over the publication of an article on April 27 2018 with the headline: ‘Gone Potty: How can JK Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife-beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?’
