Joey and Chandie met as teenagers, when a then 16-year-old Lawrence was on vacation at Disney World in 1993. The actor however went on to marry Michelle Vella in 2002, but they split in 2005. Joey and Chandie reconnected more than a decade later and wed in 2005.

Getting Married at Disney World

In an Interview back in 2006, the actor revealed that during their 90s meet-cute at Disney World, Joey joked about getting married at the theme park. “Being the cheesy romantic that I was, I said, ‘Hey look, there’s the Disney wedding chapel! Maybe we’ll get married there one day.’ “Long story short, we did!” Turns out dreams do come true, and the couple’s fantasy came to life when they got hitched in 2005 at the Magic Kingdom.

“My reason for life. My greatest blessings”

The couple’s divorce filing comes weeks after Lawrence shared a sweet tribute to their daughters, Charleston, 14, and Liberty, 10, in celebration of Father’s Day.

“My reason for life. My greatest blessings. Being the father of these two amazing, strong, powerful young ladies (and Of course my son pictured there in the middle..lol) has brought more joy and happiness into my life then I ever could have imagined,” he wrote. “God bless all the fathers out there who enjoy and share the same blessing of being a Dad. Our job as fathers is unparalleled and literally the most important and meaningful responsibility we ever could have. #happyfathersday#family #dad #dadlife #blessed#fathersday #2020.”

In 2017, Lawrence and Yawn-Nelson filed for bankruptcy with just $8,000 in the bank and $60 in cash after accumulating $355,517.27 worth of liabilities. That included $132,000 in credit card bills, $100,000 owed for automobiles, $88,000 in back taxes, $54,000 in unpaid rent and $32,000 for an unpaid loan. The bankruptcy case was later settled in 2018.

The reason for the couple’s separation has not been revealed yet, and there has also been no information regarding child custody.
