WWE Hall of Famer JBL appears to be mentoring Happy Baron Corbin on WWE TV in the future. Corbin, who had lost nine straight matches prior to the 9/2 WWE SmackDown, was defeated by Shinsuke Nakamura on Friday night after issuing an open offer to anyone in the locker room. Following the match, a deflated Corbin was seen walking towards the parking lot from the backstage area.
A white limousine with JBL’s trademark horns on the front pulled up alongside Corbin. When the windows were rolled down, an acquainted voice can be heard asking, What did happen to you? and then saying, Get on it. The pairing of JBL and Corbin should come as no surprise. JBL previously told that of all the prevailing WWE Superstars, Corbin is the person he would like to handle.
JBL was lately in Orlando to shoot a WWE Rivals show with host Freddie Prinze Jr., Renee Paquette, Kevin Owens, & Johnny Gargano. Although there were earlier reports that WWE used JBL in some capacity during the SmackDown double tapings in Detroit, now it seems that JBL wasn’t truly in Motor City for the section, and WWE probably captured his speech for the garage segment with Corbin.
JBL most recently appeared on WWE TV as a regular guest for the WrestleMania 37 match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. During the same weekend, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2020 class. Corbin is not scheduled to compete at Saturday’s Clash at Castle, so we won’t see the Corbin-JBL partnership until next week’s SmackDown in Seattle, WA.
Kevin Owens made a special home province appearance alongside his friend Sami Zayn following last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Intriguingly, Owens was not dressed in his usual red, white, & black attire. Instead, Owens appeared to be wearing clothing that was similar, if not identical, to his old attire. We now have proof that it is brand new.
Back to the origins… Owens tweeted while promoting his new merchandise. Owens’ merch in question is a fresh shirt & hoodie. They showcase the same duct tape-styled K.O. monogram he wore in NXT, as well as the quotation Just Keep Fighting on the back. In addition to Owens returned to the roots of his old gear, but he also appears to have returned to the affectations of his old Prizefighter gimmick.
Owens faced Elias’ younger brother, Ezekiel, on Raw two weeks ago. Owens brutally attacked Ezekiel, dropping one of his trademark apron powerbombs on him. We had not seen Owens like this since his early days in WWE. One of the more memorable times he did it was after Sami Zayn won the NXT Championship at NXT Take – overs R Evolution. Owens faced Drew McIntyre last week on Raw. Despite the fact that there was no clear winner in the fight. Following the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, Owens was disqualified. McIntyre was attacked by the Usos.
