James Gunn Names His Favorite Cast Member From “Peacemaker”
James Gunn is revealing his favourite cast member, a cute puppy named Penny, as the first season of Peacemaker comes to a close. For fun, Gunn began writing the HBO Max series while in quarantine due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. DC Films expressed interest in having him continue to develop it, and the idea was quickly picked up. The show will star John Cena as the titular vigilante and will take place within the DC Extended Universe.
Cena and James Gunn are presently preparing to make their DCEU debuts in The Suicide Squad, David Ayer’s standalone follow-up to the 2016 team-up film. Gunn joined the project just a few days after being fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by Marvel Studios, though Marvel immediately reversed direction after his move to DC.
Despite being granted a break between the two projects, the acclaimed filmmaker chose to push through it to script and shoot Peacemaker, and he’s already finished it.
Here’s The Favourite Member
Gunn has been celebrating the end of production on Peacemaker season 1 on Twitter all week. He reveals his favourite cast member, a lovely puppy named in his most recent celebration.
Take a look at Gunn and Penny in this photo:
For fans, seeing Gunn connect with the lovely Penny on Peacemaker is a sweet treat, but the focus now moves to how the dog fits into the HBO Max series’ narrative. Given Cena’s bigger stature and personality, Peacemaker having such a small animal buddy would be a hilarious and ironic twist. When the series premieres in January, fans will hopefully get to see Cena interact with Penny.
