On 26th February, BigHit Music, the K-Pop agency that manages BTS, announced that the next member to enlist in the military will be Jung Hoseok, better known as j-hope. This news comes just a few months after Jin, the oldest member of BTS, enlisted in the military in December 2022.
In a statement addressed to the fans, BigHit Music said, “We would like to inform our fans that j-hope has initiated the military enlistment process by applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement. We will inform you of further updates in due course.” The agency also asked fans to continue supporting j-hope until he completes his military service and safely returns.
It was previously confirmed by the agency that all BTS members will complete their mandatory military service, which is required for all able-bodied men in South Korea. This announcement caused concern among fans, as the group’s future activities will be impacted by the members’ enlistment schedules.
However, it was also confirmed that all BTS members will be making their solo debuts during this time. j-hope was the first member to release his official solo album, “Jack In The Box,”, and it received critical acclaim. Since then, Jin and RM have also made their solo debuts, and Jimin will be the next member to do so in March.
