Isaiah Washington Reignites Feud With Grey’s Anatomy CoStar, Katherine Heigl

Grey’s Anatomy alum Isaiah Washington reignited a buried hatchet with his former co-star, Katherine Heigl. The actor took to his social media to call out the actress publicly.

He wrote, “This woman once proclaimed that I should ‘never’ be allowed to speak publicly again. The world agreed with her proclamation back then and protested for my job and my head in 65 languages. I wish I was on Twitter in 2007 because I will NEVER stop exercising my free speech.”

Isaiah further added that he has learned that all money isn’t good money. He said how no amount of money can replace one’s dignity and integrity. The actor said, “Some call it living by your principles.”

The reason behind Isaiah calling out Katherine is unclear as their feud was buried over a decade ago. They locked horns back in 2007 when the actress called out the actor for using a homophobic slur towards another one of their co-stars, T.R. Knight.

Katherine played Izzie Stevens in the series and she has yet to address the actor’s sudden tweet. However, sources close to the actress revealed she is proud of having stood up for T.R. at the time. The source shared that Katherine stood up for her close friend twice when Isaiah publicly outed her friend and called him a f****t.

The source said it was hate speech and not freedom of speech. “She is proud that she stood up for him. Katherine is and always will be an advocate and ally to the LGBTQ community,” revealed the source.

“T.R. is my best friend. I will throw down for that kid.”

The sets of Grey’s Anatomy had drama going on both on and off-screen. Isaiah had once addressed the on-set encounter between T.R. and him. He had revealed at a press room that he did not call T.R. that and that I never happened. The actor said, “There is no way I could do anything so vile, and so horrible, not only to a castmate but to a fellow human being.”

Katherine had also responded back to his claims of never having said that. She said that honestly, she does not think Isaiah needs to speak in public. The actress said, “I’m sorry, that did not need to be said, I’m not okay with it.” She further shared how this is an in-house thing and they all needed to deal with it.

The actress added, “T.R. is my best friend. I will throw down for that kid.” Isaiah had responded to the claims Katherine made as well. At that time, ABC had decided how the actor will not be returning to Grey’s Anatomy. It was also reported that he had issued a formal apology to T.R. and recorded a PSA with GLAAD.

The former star of the medical drama was asked how will this affect his career. He had responded at the time and said, “I can only apologize so many times. I can only accept so much responsibility.”

“All the players involved have taken care of what we needed to take care of in-house—and the media took it in a different direction,” he continued. “I hope that everyone is happy about the outcome for Isaiah, but Isaiah will go on and do what I love to do. And I have to go about the business of letting people know what’s written about me is not the truth. I’m merely an actor, a husband, and a father who’s trying to do a great job and be very grateful and understanding that I’m in a very privileged position.”

However, despite the drama, the actor explained how he hopes to move on. He shared how he hopes people can understand the industry. The actor also deemed it as a horrible misunderstanding and was blown out of proportion.
