IPL 2022: MS Dhoni is back with a bang

IPL 2022 began with a bang as MS Dhoni scores the first fifty of the season. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bowl first. Umesh Yadav started of IPL 2022 with a no ball and he troubled the openers with his swing bowling as he dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad for a duck in the very first over.

Uthappa came out all guns blazing and scored a quick fire 28. Umesh Yadav dismissed Devon Conway for 3 runs in his second over and CSK were in trouble early at 28/2 in 4 overs. Varun Chakravarty dismissed Robin Uthappa for 28 runs in the 8th over. Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube were dismissed in quick succession as CSK were in real trouble at 61-5 by the end of 11 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni got together and put on a very critical partnership to take CSK to a respectable total of 131 Runs. Jadeja never really got going as he scored 26 runs in 28 balls. MS Dhoni took the situation into his own hands and dismantled the bowling attack of KKR in the last three overs.


When Dhoni walked in CSK were in big trouble at 61-5 in 12 overs. Dhoni struggled against the spin bowling of Narine and Chakravarty. Once the spinners quota of overs was done. Dhoni got into his own and the carnage begin in the 18th over when Dhoni scored a boundary towards the point region and scored another two boundaries in the last three balls.

CSK Scored 14 runs in the 18th over. Shivam Mavi was taken to the cleaners in the Majestic Mahi way. Dhoni scored a 4 on the 5th ball of the over followed by a six towards fine leg of a no ball. In the 20th over he smashed the 3rd ball of the over to square leg and then came out the “Mini Helicopter” shot on the 4th ball of the over towards in the vacant space between long off and mid wicket. Dhoni then scored a single towards the cover region and bought up his 24th IPL fifty and also the first fifty of IPL 2022.
