Hilarie Burton will appear on The Walking Dead, alongside her husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. She announced the news on social media on November 3.

The actress tweeted, “Been pretty hard to keep this a secret.  But I love working with @JDMorgan.” She continued writing that she loves watching him be Negan and The Walking Dead family too.

Hilarie wrote, “They’ve been a part of our family for ages and I’m so grateful for their kindness. Xoxo #hereslucille.” The casting of the actress was first reported by ComicBook.com. The actress will play the role of Lucille who is the late wife of Jeffrey’s character, Negan.

Her debut is estimated to be during the bonus episodes that are an addition to the AMC hit’s 10th season. The actress’s character, Lucille died of pancreatic cancer and will be debuting in the famous franchise.

Jeffrey joined the show back in 2016 for its sixth season finale. However, he went on to become a series regular in season 7. The actor has previously worked with his wife in the past.

The couple had starred in an AMC series titled, Friday Night in With The Morgans, earlier this year. Hilarie and Jeffrey had conversations with guests from their farm in upstate New York. They would question the guests about they are dealing with their time amid the ongoing global pandemic.

The couple had also starred together in Extant back in 2015. They were also guest stars in the medical drama, Greys Anatomy as Denny Duquette and Lauren Boswell. The couple began dating back in 2009 and have since then welcomed their son, Augustus, and daughter George.

Hilarie and Jeffrey tied the knot in a private ceremony in October 2019. After the wedding, Hilarie had revealed why it was the right time for the couple to get married.

“You just hit a point one day when you want it to be real and our lives are very, very busy,” the White Collar alum said at the time. “It became really easy to just be like, ‘We’re close enough. We’re close enough.’ But you also want to set an example with your children and we didn’t want to be liars anymore.”

Hilarie explained that they called each other husband and wife because they lived as a married couple. She said it was more of a celebration and also a thank you to everybody who supported them.
