HEARTSTOPPER renewed for TWO more seasons

Fans of the successful Netflix drama “Heartstopper” can rejoice: Charlie and Nick will return for a second and third season. The streamer said on Friday that it had renewed the See-Saw Films-produced program for two more seasons.

About Heartstopper

HEARTSTOPPER is one of Netflix’s best-reviewed series, with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and acclaim for its LGBTQ representation. The show has also sparked a social media discourse, with leads Kit Connor and Joe Locke rocketing to top celebrity status, with their Instagram followings ballooning from just over 100K apiece before the series’ premiere to 3.4 million (Connor) and 2.5 million (Locke) (Locke). The hashtag heartstopper has received over 4.3 billion views on TikTok.

Oseman To Return For New Seasons

Alice Oseman will return as writer and creator for Seasons 2 and 3. When gentle Charlie (Locke) and rugby-loving Nick (Connor) meet at secondary school in Season 1, they rapidly realise that their strange relationship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick, and their friends must negotiate the universally familiar journey of self-discovery and acceptance, supporting one another as they learn to be their most true selves.

Joe Locke, who plays Charlie, recently said he’d love to see Jennifer Coolidge cameo in the second season. “Jennifer Coolidhe should play my grandmother,” he said. “That would be so cool. I love her. She’s amazing. I also want a scene with Nick’s mom so I can work with Olivia Colman.”

Heartstopper Season 1 includes the first two volumes of Alice Oseman’s graphic novel (and webcomic) series. There will be two more volumes, plus a final one in February 2023. Solitaire, Oseman’s debut novel, is about Charlie’s scene-stealing sibling, who sprinkles “older sister enchantment” throughout Heartstopper.

British-Australian production company See-Saw Films acquired TV rights for the series in 2019 and signed a distribution deal with Netflix last year.
