Hailee Steinfeld Honoured To Be In Marvel’s Hawkeye Series

Hailee Steinfeld opened up about her journey in Hawkeye. The actress reflects on her decision to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her new role as a superhero.

She had to keep her role in the upcoming Disney+ series a secret for months. The actress shared how good it feels to finally make the announcement. She shared how it seemed like a blessing in disguise that she could not be around a lot of people. The actress explained that she felt that way because it was a hard secret to keep to herself.

Hailee was referring to the social distancing rules in place because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. “I am so honored to be a part of this family that is the MCU,” the singer revealed. She is joining Jeremy Renner, Florence Pugh, and Vera Farmiga in Hawkeye.

The Starving singer plays the role of Kate Bishop, the character who fights crime under the name of Hawkeye in the comics. “She is an incredible character, and it’s been a really fun journey so far,” Hailee tells PEOPLE.

The actress is also a part of the Apple+ series Dickinson which is a dark comedy. The show revolves around her character as the celebrated poet Emily Dickinson. Dickinson was renewed for an early season 3 back in October as the second season was released recently.

The singer also opened up about her Apple+ series as she shared seeing similarities between the life of the poet and the world today. “I learned that it’s shockingly very similar to our world now is, the time that we’re living in now,” Steinfeld says of working on the series. “I think that we definitely, thankfully, and luckily have come a very long way, but yeah, not that stuffy period piece you would think. It’s quite relevant, actually.”

The actress shared her favourite and least favourite parts of the time period. She explained that she loves what she also does not love about it and that is the wardrobe. The singer revealed how in awe and fascinated she is by the detail.

“How long would I last [in the 1800s]? Here’s the thing, if I had to, I’d do it. If I had the choice, like I do, to like, loosen a corset up at lunchtime or maybe even take it off for 30 minutes, I would,” she admits. “So that makes me think I wouldn’t last very long.”

Marvel’s Hawkeye TV show will be introducing Maya Lopez, aka Echo. The character is closely associated with Daredevil. After almost a decade, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton will be the lead character in the Disney+ series.

Hawkeye will look into Barton’s life as Marvel studios finally give fans a sneak peek into the character’s life. The character last appeared in the last movie of the Avengers franchise, Avengers: Endgame. It is also rumored to give us insight into the training Kate Bishop will receive. The character will be played by Hailee Steinfeld.

Hawkeye To Introduce Daredevil Character, Echo

Disney+ gives Marvel an opportunity to look into the character’s life in the form of episodic storytelling. There are a lot of shows lined up from Marvel Studios as they intend to enlighten the existing characters and introduce new ones as well. All series will feature characters from the original comics.

Hawkeye’s cast was confirmed recently as it will see Florence Pugh returning Yelena Belova from Black Widow. However, other characters were also revealed like Swordsman and Clown. The character of Swordsman will be portrayed by Tony Dalton and Fra Fee will be playing Clown.

It was also reported that Vera Farmiga will be cast as Kate Bishop’s mother, Eleanor. Meanwhile, Zahn McClarnon will play Echo’s father, William. According to Variety, Hawkeye’s cast also included newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka Echo. The deaf character who is a Native American has strong connections with Clint Barton in the comics.
