For the First Time Since Endgame, Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. Reunite

For the first time since Avengers: Endgame, Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. reconnect on camera.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actors played Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Tony Stark/Iron Man, respectively.

In real life, the two developed a tight bond similar to that of their roles. When Marvel Studios and Sony announced their Spider-Man collaboration in 2015, Holland’s Spider-Man made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War.

Tom and Robert Reunite

During his rivalry with Captain America (Chris Evans) over the Sokovia Accords, Stark recruited the teenage hero into Team Iron Man. Since then, the two have created a mentor-mentee connection that has evolved over time to become more personal. But it all came to an end in Avengers: Endgame, when the brilliant billionaire met his death.

As depicted in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Stark’s death had a significant impact on Peter, showing how important their friendship was to him. Some critics believe that Spider-Man doesn’t need a mentor because he is a hero in his own right, thus they aren’t delighted with their pair’s closeness. However, the pair’s relationship is one of the best in the MCU for the most part.

Downey and Holland became excellent friends as a result of their on-screen relationship, not to mention their obvious chemistry. They haven’t been seen together since Avengers: Endgame due to the pandemic and Iron Man’s death in the MCU – until now.

Holland received a surprising call from Downey during his hosting introduction for the Venture Into Cures EB Research Fundraiser event. The back-and-forth between the two was hilarious to witness. This occurred about the same time that director Joe Russo stated that Holland will be taking over for Downey in the MCU, which is an interesting coincidence.

TOM HOLLAND ARCHIVE shared the following video on YouTube:

This was a pre-planned event part, but it doesn’t make it any less entertaining. For what it’s worth, the stars have demonstrated repeatedly their undying affection for one another. Holland sees Downey as a mentor to him, similar to Spider-Man in the MCU.

However, in this footage, they sound more like friends catching up after being apart for so long. It’s also amazing to see Downey once again channeling Tony Stark as he described epidermolysis bullosa. It’s reminiscent of all the times Iron Man demonstrated his superior intellect during his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Downey appears to have actively distanced himself from the MCU ever after he withdrew from his heroic role. As a result, it’s doubly special to see him reprise his Tony Stark character.
