Drake stunned fans by announcing the release of his new album just hours before it was scheduled to be released. On Thursday, the Canadian rapper announced on social media that his seventh album will be out just in some hours. What a case of not giving anyone a heads-up!
‘7th studio album “HONESTLY, NEVERMIND” released at midnight,’ the 35-year-old rapper wrote beside the artwork and title of the album, Honestly Nevermind.
On the back of the album, Drake is featured in an enormous army print jacket with his head down, while the title is written in grunge graffiti script on a black backdrop. After his new music was presented to the public, he also unveiled the entire track list of his 14 new songs later that night.
This album arrives barely nine months after his last one, Certified Lover Boy, which was postponed due to the rapper’s recovery from leg surgery.
How Did the Fans React to “Honestly, Nevermind”?
Fans were ecstatic that the singer had released a new album, with one saying, ‘Summer has officially started,’ while another added, ‘Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this.’
A third follower of the artist said, ‘Right on to save summer, we need a new anthem,’ while the fourth teased, ‘Leaving work early for this.’
Despite their delight, fans were perplexed that the rapper had given no notice of the album or released a new song prior to its surprise release. Fans on social networking sites were divided about whether the record’s musical approach was more house music or electronic.
The release of Honestly, Nevermind comes amid reports that Drake was working on new songs with musicians such as Taylor Swift.
In April, the singer posted a series of photos to Instagram, including a throwback shot of him and Taylor from 2016.
