Fans Are Upset With Rolling Stone For Messing Up The Pronunciation of ROSÉ

ROSÉ from BLACKPINK is one of the biggest and most popular names in the kpop and fashion industries today. ROSÉ has made a name for herself with her unique, adorable, and charming personality and heavenly vocals which have earned her the well-deserving title of the GOLDEN VOICE OF KOREA.

ROSÉ: The Golden Voice Of Korea

Park Chaeyoung, better known by her English name Roseanne Park or stage name Rosé, is the main vocalist and lead dancer of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, which is often included in the list of the biggest musical groups on the planet. Rosé’s father learned that YG Entertainment was holding auditions in Sydney, Australia, in 2012. He persuaded her to participate. Despite her mother’s initial opposition, Rosé and her father were eventually able to persuade her. She flew from Melbourne to Sydney in a matter of hours. Rosé placed first out of 700 candidates in the tryouts and was hired as a trainee with YG Entertainment the same day. After four years of training, YG finally promoted her to lead vocalist and dancer for BLACKPINK. She was the band’s last member to be unveiled. ROSÉ has witnessed massive success as a kpop idol, but that’s not all. With top brands in the fashion industry literally fighting to get ROSÉ to be their global brand ambassador, ROSÉ is a globally well-known and universally-loved pop icon.

In addition, ROSÉ has also had a very successful solo career and has amassed a great following for her unique vocal timbre. As a solo singer, she first collaborated with labelmate G-Dragon on his 2012 track “Without You”, which peaked at number ten on the Gaon Music Chart. Later on, she released her solo project titled, “- R -” on 12 March 2021 through YG Entertainment and Interscope Records.

The physical version went on to become the best-selling album by a female soloist in the history of the Gaon Album Chart, debuting at number two. R also broke the record for the most first-week sales by a Korean female soloist, selling 448,089 copies. In November 2021, the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) awarded it double platinum status for selling 500,000 album-equivalent copies. The album was also a hit in China, where it sold 1,000,000 digital downloads and peaked at number one on China’s largest music-streaming service, QQ Music’s digital album sales chart. Positive feedback centred on Rosé’s vocals and songwriting on the single album.

The lead single, “On the Ground,” was released on the same day as the album. The song reached number 4 in South Korea and number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, making it the highest-charting song by a Korean female soloist in the United States. The song also charted at number one on the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, becoming the first Korean solo artist to do so in the history of the charts.

ROSÉ recently participated in a magazine photoshoot for ROLLING STONE along with her group members LISA, JENNIE, & JISOO. In the article that was published for BLACKPINK’s project with Rolling Stone, fans were quick to notice an error regarding ROSÉ’s name. The article said that ROSÉ is pronounced as ROSIE which isn’t the correct pronunciation. ROSIE is actually a nickname for ROSÉ and ROSÉ is pronounced as ROW-ZAY. Rolling Stone edited the article after complaints from fans, only to end up with another blunder. This time they replaced the word ROSÉ with ROSIE and added in brackets that the pronunciation for ROSIE is ROSY.

Fans are upset with the magazine’s lack of research for ROSÉ, as is evident after a brief look at their response in the tweets below:

Some fans also noticed that the magazine missed to mention ROSÉ’s achievements as a solo artist and the very important fact that she holds the Guinness world record for topping the BB 200 as a group member and as a soloist:

ROSÉ has posted several song covers ever since the release of – R – which have received millions of views and praise from fans and original artists alike, but is yet to release new original music either as an idol/blackpink member or a soloist. Although we are excited that we may get to hear her angelic voice again soon enough with the new and imminent blackpink comeback. Rolling Stone will be positing her solo magazine cover TODAY.
