Fans Are Emotional After Euphoria’s Special Rue-Episode

The special episode of Euphoria was something we could not handle. The highly-anticipated wait for the episodes premiered its Christmas special. The special episodes were focused on Zendaya’s character, Rue.

Fans were looking forward for the special two episodes as they tuned in during the weekend to catch up on the show. The first part helps us put the pieces back together after Rue relapsed in the season finale. Spoiler Alert!! The episode shows us Rue on Christmas Eve as she meets her sponsor Ali played by Colman Domingo.

Both Rue and Ali have a heartfelt, long conversation about heartbreak, addiction, love, trauma, Black Lives Matter, family and feeling like you are on the edge. The episodes are definitely for someone who does not want to feel a lot of things. The dark and a little depressing episodes are different from the usual format of the show.

Majority of the episode was in the diner as they were sitting and chatting about more heartfelt things. However, for fans the dialogue between Ali and Rue hit a little too close to home. Fans expressed their uncomfortable realizations about Rue as they figure out the character is not that keen on being sober.

She says in the episode at one point, “To tell you the truth, drugs are probably the only reason I haven’t killed myself.” The character’s sponsor asks a server to come into the conversation and give some advice about sobriety. Even that scene had fans reaching for the tissues. “Everything that’s good to you isn’t always good for you,” she says.

“I just don’t really plan on being here that long”

The waitress is also heard saying, “Trouble don’t last always and it doesn’t if you want to make a change.” As fans wait for the second special episode, they have a lot to ponder on with the one episode that was released. The second part is said to be focused on Hunter Schafer’s Jules and her version of what happened.

Jules and Rue went their separate ways in season one. Fans have opinion about the one episode that aired and the best ones are intense. One user shared how the new episode has got them sobbing 3 times already today. The user suggests people to go and watch the show.

Meanwhile another fan shared how the new euphoria episode called them out on their bullshit but also made them legitimately take a look at their own habits. The user continued that the episode helped him/her be emotionally introspective for the first time in a long while.

While one user quoted dialogue from the show, “everything that’s good to you ain’t always good for you”. Another fan also quoted, “I just don’t really plan on being here that long”. While another user scream tweeted if anyone can hear their heartbreaking pieces as they shared a quote from Rue.

Another fan noted that they did not need that new Euphoria episode attacking them on a personal level at the moment.

Zendaya had taken to her social media to announce two special episodes of Euphoria are coming to HBO pretty soon. A premiere date for season two of Euphoria has not been revealed, however, Zendaya just announced that the series is coming out with two special episodes soon. She tweeted, “We really missed them. Two special Euphoria episodes coming soon. First one December 6th on HBO.”

Euphoria’s Season Finale

HBO has also revealed that the episode will be Christmas-themed and features Rue, played by Zendaya, celebrating the holiday season. This comes after the devastating end of season one. The episode is titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always”.

Spoiler Alert!! For fans of the show, let’s take a recap. In the season finale, Rue relapsed after three months of sobriety. The relapse was incorporated in a touching music video to the original song, All For Us.

Some fans were scared that it was actually Rue dying instead of relapse. However, Sam Levinson has clarified that it is not the end of her character. He told an entertainment portal that Rue is not dead.

He gave a little more insight and revealed that the character has a big journey ahead of her. The show creator revealed, “It’s not something I want to cut short because of who Rue means to me as someone who has battled with addiction and come out the other side, and because I think that there’s a lot more to delve into and unpack in terms of the effects of addiction on Rue and on her family and those around her. The possibilities are endless in many ways.”

Special Episode For Fans

Rue’s musical relapse came right after Jules (Hunter Schafer) escaped to the city without her and while Maddy (Alexa Demie) might have acquired footage of what Cal (Eric Dane) has been up to. Kat (Barbie Ferreira) and Ethan (Austin Abrams) also finally got together, giving the finale it’s one happy ending.

It is also revealed that the two special episodes will not be a part of season two. The filming for the second installment will begin in 2021. Zendaya revealed on her appearance in Jimmy Kimmel Live that they will go into production on the sophomore season when the coronavirus pandemic forced them into shutting down.

“We had done table reads and wardrobe fittings and all kinds of things, and then obviously everything happened,” she told guest host Ben Platt. “We got shut down, literally two days before we were about to start our first day of shooting.

The Emmy-winning actress had revealed at that time that they are planning a little bridge episode for the fans. The bridge would be filmed with a limited amount of people and it will be a little something to live on till season two.
