Famous Comedian Sean Lock Has Passed Away Battling Cancer Aged 58

The 8 out of 10 cats series 8 team captain Sean Lock is no more! The famous comedian and TV personality has passed away battling cancer, his agent has confirmed.

Sean Lock was a well known name in the entertainment industry. His career ranged from appearing on QI, The Last Leg, Have I Got News for You, and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

‘Heartbreaking’

“It’s heartbreaking to lose my dearest friend Sean Lock, he was a true original, a wonderful comic,” said fellow colleague and stand up comedian Bill Bailey.

Sean Lock’s fellow team captain from the Jimmy Carr led show 8 out of 10 cats John Richardson also expressed his grief on his death.

John Richardson said “I idolised Sean as a comic long before I became a comedian myself and 10 years working alongside him didn’t diminish that in the least. An incredible comic brain and a truly unique voice.”

Sean Lock’s Career Achievements

Lock was born on 22nd of April, 1963. His early career saw him working in the 1993 series Newman and Baddiel in pieces. The 2000 British Comedy Awards labelled Sean as the Best Live Comic. He was also a nominee for the Perrier Comedy Award

The 8 out of 10 cats fetched Lock anlot of recognition and fame. He eventually exited the show as a team captain in the year 2016. Sean Lock was replaced by Rob Beckett at the beginning of series 19.

He and Richardson also appeared on the spin-off series 8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown.

‘Most Influential Comedian’

Ricky Gervais expressed his sadness on the passing away of Lock saying “Such sad news. RIP the great Sean Lock. One of the funniest, most influential comedians of a generation. A lovely man.”

Everyone in the industry is moved following the news of Sean Lock being no more amongst us. May his soul rest in peace!
