Emma Watson is not leaving us or hanging up her acting career. The actress had started trending after an online report claimed that she had retired from acting.
As per the report, “Emma Watson has gone ‘dormant’ according to her agent. That appears to be movie-speak for shes given up acting.’”
However, her manager, Jason Weinberg, denied the report as he told Entertainment Weekly in a statement. The statement said, “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t.” He further said that Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t.
Emma’s Instagram account bio currently reads, ‘Emma’s official Instagram page is currently dormant and is not being updated’. Her profile picture also is a simple black icon. The actress is best known for her fan-favorite role of Hermione Granger in the superhit franchise Harry Potter.
She starred alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. The star was recently seen in Greta Gerwig’s 2019 film, Little Women. She was opposite Saorise Ronan, Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern, and Meryl Streep. Emma might be best known for Harry Potter, however, she earned critical acclaim in Disney’s live-action, Beauty And The Beast and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.
The actress had made a rare appearance with her boyfriend, Leo Robinton in London. She was grabbing a coffee as she was walking around the city’s Primrose Hill Neighbourhood. Their outing came over a year after the couple was first spotted in October 2019.
Emma’s Fans Get Emotional
Fans got emotional after hearing the news of her retirement as a number of fans recalled her brilliant talent. Harry Potter fans were the most heartbroken by the news as they always adored their Hermione in Emma. A fan wrote, “Everyone say thank you Emma Watson for gracing us with the legend that is Hermione Granger.” Another wrote, “No more Emma Watson??? she is one of my fav but it’s okay as long as she’s happy with her decision.”
Leo is a businessman from Los Angeles and not much about him has been revealed. He had deleted his social media after photos of the couple kissing each other surfaced. The couple is rarely seen anywhere together after that but they appear to be going strong.
Emma was reportedly set to join the board of French luxury group Kering. The group, behind top fashion brands like Italy’s Gucci, said that Watson would chair the board’s sustainability committee, which is focused on environmental matters — a growing concern for many young luxury shoppers companies want to court.
Watson, 30, is also known as a champion of women’s rights and is a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador. She said, “At the beginning of last month when life for some of us hadn’t yet completely shifted, I was honored to have spoken with Dr. Valerie Hudson about her book, Sex and World Peace. We spoke about what inspired her to write her book and the realization that how we’ve treated women is actually the template for how we’ve treated our Earth.”
