Congratulations are in order for Emma Stone and Dave McCary! After months of speculation, The “La La Land” Actress and the “Saturday Night Live” director tied the knot in a secret ceremony.
Neither Stone nor McCary have publicly discussed their nuptials, but rumors emerged after they were spotted wearing matching rings while on a walk together in Los Angeles on Sept. 11.
The actress had also previously sparked marriage speculation, earlier this year in May, when she participated in a video interview with Reese Witherspoon. Fans were quick to notice the actress wearing a gold band on that finger.
“Dave and Emma share the same sense of adventure”
This marks the first marriage for both Stone and McCary who were first romantically linked in 2017. The couple met when Stone hosted SNL at the end of 2016 and collaborated on a taped sketch titled “Wells for Boys.” The comedian directed the sketch, in which Stone plays a mom who’s baffled by her young son’s affinity for wells for “sensitive boys” where they can whisper their feelings and secrets.
Then at the 2019 SAG Awards, last January, the couple made their first public appearance together. At the time, a Source revealed, “Dave is a super down-to-earth guy. Most of his best friends are people he’s known since he was a kid, and he’s not affected by Hollywood,” the source continued. “He’s very creative and funny, and he and Emma share the same sense of adventure.”

Stone and McCary announced their engagement back in December 2019 with a simple Instagram post, with the “Easy A” actress showing off her pearl and diamond engagement ring.
Following their engagement, a source close to the couple revealed that the reason behind Stone and McCary’s successful relationship is because they are both equally private. They prefer to stay out of the spotlight and focus on their respective careers and successes. “She is professional in every way, very talented and focused on her work, and Dave respects that,” the source said. “He totally supports her, and is unselfish in his desire for her success. Those are great qualities in a man for someone like Emma. She is impressed by his talent and respects him immensely.”
“Two highly successful people in the entertainment business don’t always give the other the space they need,” the source admitted. However, Mccary “encourages her, and she loves that.”
Postponing wedding and Past relationships
Like Many others, the couple had to postpone their March wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic, but fans soon began speculating that they had secretly gotten married.
Prior to dating McCary, Stone was in a longtime relationship with her “The Amazing Spider-Man” co-star Andrew Garfield, whom she dated from 2011 to 2015. The two had an amicable breakup and still remain on good terms.
