“Elite” Star Miguel Bernardeau and Actress Renata Notni confirmed to star in Amazon Prime’s “Zorro”

Miguel Bernardeau, who was last seen as Guzmán in Netflix’s global hit series “Elite,” and Mexico’s Renata Notni are confirmed to star in the leading roles for “Zorro,”streaming on Amazon Prime, according to a Variety report. Zorro is apparently a reboot series from Los Angeles-based Secuoya Studios and John Gertz that will stream in exclusivity on Amazon’s Prime Video.

The 10-episode the show is being directed by Javier Quintas, who previously worked on shows like “Money Heist” and “Sky Rojo,” and Miguel Angel Vivas, who has been a director on “Locked Up” and “Unauthorized Living.”

What is the show about?

Bernardeau will play a new version of Diego de la Vega, a landowner and masked hero of the people in disguise. Notni plays Lolita Marquez, his childhood sweetheart.

The series will be shot in various locations on Spain’s Canary Islands.

According to Secuoya, Zorro will be shaped by relationships from his youth, love and disappointment in love, which will forge his development as a character and reflect a type of masculinity that deviates from stereotypes. They also stated that his battle includes determining who murdered his father, a personal mission that leads him to discover family secrets that will forever change his destiny. Women in the series will also be “before their time, empowered, standing up to the masked hero or acting as confidantes, according to their own interests,” according to Secuoya.

Who is Miguel Bernardeau?

Bernardeau rose to prominence as Guzmán, the principled but immature macho of Las Encinas High School in “Elite.” Since then, he’s been cast in “1899,” a Netflix mega-production from the “Dark” creators, as well as Disney Plus’ “The Last One.” He also made his acting debut in Javier Marco’s first feature, “Josefina.”

Notni, one of Mexico’s most promising young actors, starred in the Univision/Netflix series “El Dragón: Return of a Warrior” and, more recently, in the Netflix original “La Venganza de las Juanas.”
