Drive-in cinema coming to Aberystwyth
After great success in many locations in the UK, the first drive-in cinema is set to come to Aberystwyth in September 2020. A drive-in cinema event has been planned for the residents of Aberystwyth, with families invited to enjoy a safe, socially distanced evening out.
When?
Aberystwyth’s very first drive-in cinema opens next month on Friday September 11th screening ‘A Star is Born’ at Tesco Car Park. Gates open at 8pm, film will start at sunset. From the comfort of your own car, watch the Oscar-winning film A Star is Born.
Advancing Aberystwyth ar y Blaen will host the cinema. With the aim of providing residents with their big screen film fix, within the safety and comfort of their cars, Advancing Aberystwyth have teamed up with Tesco (where the event will take place) to showcase family-friendly films.
The drive-in cinema experience is a great opportunity for a family outing. All cars will be parked the recommended two-meter distance apart.
Tickets will not be available on the evening and must be purchased in advance (admission granted by showing e-ticket on arrival). Refreshments available from Tesco.

Possibility of cancellation?
This week Sheffield drive-in cinema cancels showings due to wet weather. The Village Screen which runs the pop-up cinema at Kenwood Hall in Nether Edge revealed they had made the decision to postpone this week’s listings after heavy rainfall caused ‘boggy’ conditions at the venue on social media. Their new date is also anticipated on September 11.
