Dallas Mavericks Annihilate The Phoenix Suns In Series Clinching Game 7

The Eastern Conference Finals matchup has been decided and now is the time for the Western Conference where the two teams Phoenix Suns and the Dallas mavericks await their trial. According to most predictions, this series was not even supposed to go to a Game 7 but Luka and his co remained strong and kept challenging the Suns. Having homecourt advantage, the Suns will look to put the series away.

The Phoenix Suns went with their starting lineup of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder and Deandre Ayton. The Dallas Mavericks started with Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson, Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith and Dwight Powell.

Game Summary

With the opening tip, the Mavericks scored the first points of the game and then proceeded to go on a 10-3 run. The Suns snapped the streak but it was clear who had the momentum of the game. Doncic started strong and he obliterated the entire Suns defense singlehandedly.

On the defensive end, the Mavericks rallied with their star and they kept their defenses up not letting the Suns settle with their shots. The Suns struggled immensely. They were moving the ball around well but they got flustered as their opponents got a head start and they ended up rushing their shots.

When the game moved to the second quarter, what transpired was an utter disbelief and shock for the home team. Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie annihilated the entire Suns team as they combined for 28 points. Doncic had 27 points alone in the end of the 1st half.

But that is not the most surprising stat. The Phoenix Suns could not at all get into the game and they were not even getting away from the defense. A look at their score board and they scored only a total of 27 points in the end of the 1st half. Just 27 points! The Suns! The top team in the entire league with a 64-18 record in the regular season scored 27 points in the 1st half of Game 7!That is the most humiliating scorline in Game 7 in NBA history!

The Mavericks continued their 3-point barrage in the 3rd quarter with Jalen Brunson stepping up big time. The Suns still continued to struggle. The lead grew to 40 points and it was obvious by that time that the game was over.

In the 4th quarter, just as a formality both teams let their bench players play and that was the only quarter that the Suns outscored the Mavericks. Still the lead was too big to overcome and the game ended with the final buzzer sounding. In all honesty, it seemed like the Mavericks had ventured to the Finals last season and the Suns were just a newcomer.

Box Score

Only 3 of the Suns players broke into double-digit numbers but those numbers are nothing to boast about. Cameron Johnson led in scoring with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Devin Booker scored only 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. Chris Paul had 10 points, a rebound, 4 assists and a steal.

From the Dallas mavericks, Luka Doncic was sensational as he finished the game with a double-double of 35 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Spencer Dinwiddie came off the bench and put up 30 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block. Jalen Brunson put up 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

The Mavericks move on

The Dallas Mavericks pulled off an upset victory in Game 7 and blew the Suns right out of the arena with a scoreline of 123-90. They have clinched the series and now move on to the Western Conference Finals where they are going to meet up the Golden State Warriors to decide who will go to the Finals.

Aftermath of the Suns

For the Phoenix Suns, it is the most humiliating way to end their championship run. With the off season coming up certain decisions need to be made as to who they are keeping. Chris Paul must be in utter disbelief in losing out another opportunity and with time winding down on his career, he has only one chance to win the championship or does he?
