Cooper Hefner, son of the late Hugh Hefner, has officially become a first-time father to a baby girl, Betsy Rose Hefner, who is named after Cooper’s late grandmother. Cooper’s wife, Harry Potter actress, Scarlett Byrne Hefner, gave birth at 5:23 p.m. local time on Aug. 24, in Los Angeles.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude, love and joy”
Hefner took to Instagram on Monday to share the news of the birth of his first child. He wrote, “At 5:23 pm this afternoon Scarlett and I welcomed our daughter Betsy Rose Hefner into the world. We are overwhelmed with gratitude, love and joy.”
In a heartfelt photo shared by the proud father, Hefner is seen standing alongside his wife. Who is lying in a hospital bed and cradling their newborn bundle of joy. A video posted alongside the images shows mom and dad sharing a sweet kiss while cuddling their baby girl.
A Nod to Cooper’s Late Maternal Grandmother
Cooper and Scarlett’s newborn weighed 6lbs 5oz. The happy couple revealed that they are “filled with such joy” and that they “couldn’t be happier.” The pair even revealed that they named their daughter in honor of Cooper’s late maternal grandmother, Betsy Aldridge Conrad. Who passed away just last month. “My grandmother meant the world to both Scarlett and I,” says Hefner while speaking about the couple’s choice of name for their baby girl.
“We are overwhelmed with joy to share that our daughter, Betsy Rose Hefner, has arrived. We look forward to being home and spending time together as a family in the days and weeks ahead,” he says.
The new dad also admitted that his daughter reaffirms his current public service work, to build a better world for future generations. Hefner is a fellow for the German Marshall Fund. A teacher and board member at Chapman University. And board member of nonprofits such as Children of the Night.
The Pregnancy Announcement
Back in March, Cooper and Scarlett revealed their baby news. The then dad-to-be sharing a photo of his wife smiling while sitting in a field of grass. Her hands placed below her baby bump. The post also included a sweet video of the pair walking hand-in-hand as they indulged in a romantic stroll along a beach.
“Scarlett and I have been blessed with wonderful news we are ecstatic to share. This summer we will be welcoming a new member to the family,” wrote Cooper at the time. “The two of us could not be happier as we wait for the arrival of our little one.”
Byrne, who is best known for her role as Pansy Parkinson in the last three Harry Potter Franchise films (Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. Part 1 and Part 2) also conveyed the exciting news from her end. “Cooper and I are delighted to share that we have a little one on the way. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and joy. The two of us can’t wait to meet the newest little Hefner,” she added.
“My heart is so full and I am so grateful for our love”
The couple tied the knot in November 2019. Cooper announced their nuptials on social media alongside a photo of the couple at the Ventura County courthouse in California.
“Scarlett and I have made it officially legal and the two of us could not be happier,” he captioned his post. Which also included a slideshow of photos of the pair over the years. “Cheers to a life full of love, happiness, adventure, and great purpose, Mrs. Hefner. I love you dearly and very much look forward to planning our wedding celebrations in the months ahead,” he added. “I love you, Scarlett.”
Scarlett also posted about the news, captioning the same courthouse photo of the pair. “Cooper and I are excited to share that we are legally married. We are looking forward to planning our wedding in the coming months where we will celebrate further with our friends and family. I love you Cooper,” she added. “I am proud to stand by your side, as your partner, your friend, and your wife. And I cannot wait to continue building a life together. My heart is so full and I am so grateful for our love.”

The arrival of baby Betsy was no doubt a bittersweet milestone for the former Playboy CCO. Whose famous father Hugh Hefner passed away in 2017. He was 91 at the time and believed to have passed away from sepsis brought on by an E. coli infection.
Cooper is the son of Hugh and his second wife, former Playmate of the Year Kimberly Conrad. Whom he married in 1989, before the couple officially divorced in 2010 after separating in 1998.

Hefner’s announcement about the birth of his daughter was met with hundreds of comments from well-wishers. Including father Hugh’s former girlfriend, Kendra Wilkinson. Who lived with the Playboy founder for five years between 2004 and 2009. ‘Congrats to you all. She’s beautiful. Welcome to the world Betsy!’ Kendra, who now has two children of her own, wrote.
Scarlett’s co-star, Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter movies. Shared her love for the couple in the comments, writing, “Oh my goodness she’s perfecccct!!! ???????? congratulations!!!”
Chris Rankin, who played Percy Weasley in the franchise, also wrote, “???????????????????????? Congratulations!!! Sending you all loads of love ❤️❤️❤️ welcome Betsy!xxx”
