Extraction 2 filming is already officially underway, according to Chris Hemsworth.
The film is a sequel to the 2020 action thriller Extraction, which debuted on Netflix during the initial COVID-19 blockage and went on to become one of the stream company’s biggest hits.
Extraction 2 is scheduled to be released in late 2022.
Extraction 2 filming is underway
Extraction follows Australian ex-Black Ops mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) as he was hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord. It was produced by the Russo brothers and directed by their veteran stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave. The film received positive reviews from critics, who appreciated the action sequences in particular, and it was well-received by audiences, with Netflix confirming their plan to develop a sequel not long after the first was released. Despite being shot in the neck and falling into a river at the film’s conclusion, Rake’s miraculous survival was indicated but not confirmed by the time the credits rolled.
In a new Instagram video from the set of Extraction 2, Hemsworth addresses this issue, confirming that filming on the sequel has begun. The Australian star, who is filmed with a very excited Hargrave, speaks to his followers from Prague, Czech Republic, and tells them two things about his latest project. To begin with, the location is much cooler this time around, as indicated by the snow that surrounded him. Second, Rake is still alive, and there’s only one way to learn how.

Netflix confirmed Rake’s survival in Extraction 2 with a teaser video at their TUDUM event in September, and Hemsworth has done his lot to build interest for his return to the blossoming action franchise.
As filming neared, the experienced MCU actor shared photos and videos of his exercises, hinting at even more impressive stunts to come.
Hargrave had previously previewed the sequel’s extreme change in temperature, though based on this footage, the Extraction 2 team most certainly received more snow than they expected in Prague at this time of year.
