Character Posters for Peacemakers The Superhero Team of John Cena

The main character (played by John Cena) and the supporting actors are featured in a new round of character posters for DC’s upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker. Peacemaker first appeared as a member of Task Force X in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

A group of villains and anti-heroes travel to Corto Maltese Island to stop Starro, an alien hivemind starfish. Bloodsport (Idris Elba) appeared to have killed Peacemaker, but a post-credits scene revealed that he was still alive and healing in a hospital. Members of Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) crew may be heard talking amongst themselves, claiming that they require Peacemaker’s help on a mission.

The show will follow the events of The Suicide Squad and will also dig into the roots of the “peace-loving” anti-hero. The plot is presently being kept under wraps, however, it is known that Peacemaker will meet Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), a crimefighter who can fast recover from injuries. He’ll also meet his father (Robert Patrick), which will likely reveal more about how Peacemaker came to be the way he is. Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, and Chukwudi Iwuji also star in the show.

Peacemaker’s key characters are now featured in a new series of posters issued by HBO Max. There are also posters for Emilia Harcourt (Holland) and John Economos (Agee), The Suicide Squad’s two agents, Vigilante, Leota Adebayo (Brooks), and Clemson Murn (Iwuji). Eagly, Peacemaker’s beloved bald eagle, receives a lovely poster as well.

The posters do an excellent job of capturing the personality of the characters and hinting at what they’ll be like in the show. Each character’s pose and accessories reveal a lot about their personalities, even though they’re all set against the same bullet-riddled American flag backdrop.

With Vigilante clutching a rubber flamingo and John in the middle of eating a burger, there are signs of the series’ comedy as well. Because Gunn has stated that these six characters (or seven, if Eagly is included) are the show’s major cast, it’s natural that HBO would want to highlight them.
