Cash Wheeler Thinks AEW’s Rising Star Is Only Scratching The Surface

FTR has recently been reconfigured with Wardlow on AEW TV. The former Pinnacle members have a lot of gold between them, with FTR holding tag team gold all over multiple promotions and Wardlow becoming the reigning TNT Champion. And, although it’s not the most popular opinion, FTR’s Cash Wheeler believes Wardlow will be a huge star in the wrestling industry.

I think he’s made large strides not just in the ring, but in his growth as a person, his character stuff, understanding more about how everything works and making things work for him, Wheeler said on The Walkway to Fight Club with Steven Muehlhausen. At this point, I believe he is only scratching the surface. He’s still young, in great shape, intelligent, and talented.

Wheeler went even further, making a bold prediction about Wardlow’s future. At a certain point, he’ll become the face of wrestling, or one of the recognisable faces in wrestling, according to Wheeler. FTR and Wardlow were united in the Pinnacle under MJF, but FTR’s fame skyrocketed, and the pair became babyface. Wardlow’s own face turn took place on March 6 during CM Punk vs. MJF Dog Collar Match at the AEW Revolution PPV.

Wardlow, MJF’s onscreen bodyguard, refused to turn over his Dynamite Diamond Ring to MJF, instead leaving it in the ring for Punk to use. This gave Punk the victory and sparked the feud among Wardlow and MJF, which climaxed in May at Double or Nothing. Wardlow crushed MJF to what many regarded to be a glorified squash match in his biggest win to date.

Punk’s Motivation

However, Punk’s motivation has never been monetary. He’s not a limo-driving, jet-flying son of a gun woo!! However, he selects his locations based on the what he desires to do. Cary Silkin, ROH’s previous owner, disclosed that the Voice of the Voiceless nearly made a dramatic reunion before joining AEW. Silkin explained, I called him a couple of years ago.

There was a chance he’d return to Ring of Honor, and I put him in touch with the power and authority, who told me that this time it just wasn’t a mutually advantageous situation, that’s it. Punk, ironically, could still make a comeback to ROH now that AEW President Tony Khan does own it too. Fans were taken aback when CM Punk appeared on Carpool Karaoke alongside Bryan Danielson, Britt Baker, & Christian Cage.

Let It Go from Disney animated film Frozen was one of the songs they sang. Whereas Danielson definitely sang it with more passion & belief than the others, it’s likely because he’s the dad of two young children who watch the film on repeat, Punk was well aware of the lyrics. Nevertheless, it is well known in the wrestling industry that he struggles to let go of specific grudges in the real world. It also includes his family.
