Bridgerton Season 2 Filming Paused As COVID Case Leads to Isolations & Testing

Bridgerton Season 2 filming was paused briefly after a member of the production team tested positive for COVID-19. The Netflix drama is in the middle of production on its second season which the cast is filming in the UK.

Netflix has confirmed to an entertainment portal that after the detection of a positive COVID-19 case; filming was immediately paused to allow for an isolated round of testing of everyone involved in the series. They added that safety to the cast and crew was the “highest priority” and all “health and safety protocols were followed” with those affected isolating.

However, the production is back on track and running today after the brief pause. This was reported by The Sun first after a member tested positive which led to “crisis meetings”. A source had revealed to the outlet that it was a difficult task for the producers as they had to remove cast or crew and put them into isolation. This meant that they have to be replaced at short notice which is not always feasible.

“Netflix has gone to great lengths to ensure all the relevant measures are in place on Bridgerton, but this just goes to show how difficult it is for such a large set to be completely Covid-secure”. They have also added that this caused concern around their other drama hit, The Crown.

The royal drama is set to film its fifth and sixth seasons with Imelda Staunton as The Queen and Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, Princess of Wales. Filming for The Crown is scheduled to start in the coming week. The halt in the production for Bridgerton comes after they received three nominations at the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Netflix hit is nominated for Best Drama Series; Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Julie Anne Robinson; and Outstanding lead actor in a Drama Series for actor Rege-Jean Page. We already know the unfortunate news that Rege-Jean will not be returning for the second season; even though his on-screen wife, Phoebe Dynevor is returning as Daphne Bridgerton.

The new series will be fronted instead by a returning Jonathan Bailey as Daphne’s brother Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton.
