BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU DDU-DU Makes Its Way To The FIFA Worldcup

BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU DDU-DU is one of the most famous K-Pop songs ever released. Many credit the song for helping and accelerating the global K-Pop movement. It debuted at 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US, despite being a Korean song with no official promotions in the west. The music video for the song is also credited for starting a new YouTube success trend in K-Pop, as it was at the time the most-viewed music video on YouTube in its first 24 hours. It was also the first K-Pop group M/V to hit 1 Billion on the platform. To add to it, the music video is expected to become the first K-Pop group M/V to hit 2 Billion views on YouTube in December.

The Global success of BLACKPINK, as one of the representatives of the Korean wave, and the song, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” was proved once again at the FIFA World Cup. The commentator during the KOREA vs GHANA match said, “Brazil is the 5th biggest consumer of K-Pop in the world’ and after this he started singing ‘DDU DU DDU DU’.

BLACKPINK recently made their much-awaited comeback with new singles Pink Venom and Shut Down and their second studio album Born Pink. After the release of the album in September, the GG embarked on their second world tour. They recently wrapped up the North American leg of the tour. The girls will now be traveling to London to start the European leg of their Born Pink World Tour.

BLACKPINK is also confirmed to be headlining BST Hyde Park in July of next year. They are also strongly rumored to be participating in Coachella 2023 and The Town music festival in Brazil.
