Bhumi Pednekar’s new initiative puts the environment at the forefront as the world celebrates Earth Day. The actress’s Climate Warrior advocacy initiative raises awareness and will help people understand how they can lead a more eco-friendly life.
She has taken this year’s Earth Day to the next level as she suggests a way for individuals to contribute to environmental conservation. The actress suggested something which is simple and practical. She also made sure that these suggestions will help us to see a tangible impact.
Bhumi has launched Dolce Vee Environmental Footprint Calculator after joining hands with a preloved thrift store, Dolce Vee. The concept is that whenever you buy a piece of preloved clothing, you will also be able to see the estimated water and carbon savings associated with it.
For example, their most recent pair of jeans saves an estimated 1826 liters of water. That is about as much amount of water as a person drinks in a year. The pair also saved an estimated 4 kg of carbon dioxide or greenhouse gases. That is equivalent to driving a car for 23 km. And consumers will get all of this after buying a pair of preloved jeans.
Bhumi is making sure to lead her fans as an example as she decided to go live on her social media platform for an interactive session. She will give her fans a demo of how the calculator actually works. Fans will be able to send in information on their clothing for a live-on-the-spot assessment. She will also be donning a piece of preloved clothing during the session herself.
“Everyone can be a Climate Warrior with this initiative.”
The actress has made it so easy for all of us to be Climate Warriors and contribute to this Earth. She wrote a caption on her social media post about the same as she gave fans all the information. The Pati Patni Aur Woh alum wrote, “On Earth Day, I will be giving pieces from my wardrobe a new life with you, and also launch the Dolce Vee Environmental Footprint Calculator so you can see your very real impact by choosing preloved.”
Bhumi further encouraged fans as she wrote everyone can become a Climate Warrior with the initiative. She also shared that if anyone has good condition clothing and accessories, they can donate them for a charity sale also. The actress wrote, “Everyone can be a Climate Warrior with this initiative. If you have good condition clothing and accessories that you’d like to share, you can donate them for a charity sale too! Just DM on the Instagram handle @dolceveelove, and we can sort out doorstep pick up from you, wherever you are across India. What’s more, you will even be given an estimate of the water and carbon savings arising from your contribution!”
The actress’s initiative had an organic synergy with Dolce Vee as a brand that is focused on sustainability. Komal Hiranandani, the founder of the organization shared that Bhumi’s commitment towards environmental conservation is “genuine and untiring”. She said, “We couldn’t be prouder to work with her for this launch. She is a true leader in showing us how we can come together to take steps – both big and small – to protect nature, and is constantly seeking to lead the way forward.”
