Beware! This Team Is Going To Take The NBA By Storm The Next Season

The Denver Nuggets fell to the Warriors in the 1st round of the playoffs. Regardless of getting beaten 4-1, their superstar, Nikola Jokic deserves no slander from the fans. It was his efforts that had even helped the Nuggets win a game when there was a potential for a sweep. Take him out of the equation and the Nuggets might not have even made into the Play-In tournament.

Jokic’s impact in the season

Nikola Jokic has been terrific in the 1st round as he put up numbers of 31 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.0 block per game. These legendary stats sadly come at the expense of a loss but it’s an omen of good things to come.

Such a performance earned him the praise of his opponents. Draymond Green who was tasked to defend Jokic for the majority of the series said, “I told him thank you for making me better. It’s an honor and a pleasure to play someone so skilled. Usually when you have guys that talented and skilled they’re soft. And he’s far, far from soft.”

Of course a win would have been justified but the journey that the Nuggets were making as a team is a right one. Jokic is a free agent now and it seems like he will sign with the Nuggets. The Nuggets of course will do whatever they can to keep him and they will go as far as signing him to a supermax contract.

Upcoming promises

In the next season, the Nuggets will be coming in with full strength. They will have their second star in Jamal Murray and a diamond in the rough with Michael Porter Jr coming up. Their return is surely going to boost the Nuggets’ offense to levels never seen before. Plus Jokic orchestrating them is going to elevate them further.

Before his injury, Murray was averaging 21.2 points, 4.8 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He has already proven to be an enormous threat in the playoffs when they had come back from 3-1 down twice. First against the Utah Jazz and the other against the Los Angeles Clippers. He was averaging 26.5 points, 6.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. His ability as a closer and a scorer cannot be ignored by any team in the NBA.

Michael Porter Jr. has put up 19 points and 7.3 rebounds in the previous season and still has room to grow. He put up 17.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in his last playoffs appearance. He has shown flashes of his potential and hopefully next season he comes out running.

What this means for the league

The trio of Jokic, Porter and Murray will be frightening to face for any opponent. Considering how well their team is built up, they are surely to amplify the offense and defense of the team. On top of that, having coach Mike Malone in the sidelines is a big support for the Nuggets. His faith in his team and his strategies that come along with it surely puts him in a position to be the vocal leader of the team.

When the next season starts, the Nuggets will be the favorites to lift the title. They have the role-players in the position they want them to be and an unconventional playstyle which will lead them to championship glory.
