Bella Hadid Hits Out On Instagram For Censoring Her Posts

Bella Hadid calls out Instagram for removing her post which said her father was born in Palestine. Her father’s name is Mohammed Hadid. She shared a passport photo of him on her social media handle.

Bella revealed on Tuesday that a story that she posted was removed which said ‘My baba and his birthplace of Palestine’. Instagram sent her an alert saying it is against their community guidelines. Bella has about 31.4 million followers on Instagram.

The model took to Instagram to tell her followers that Instagram removed her story which only said ‘My baba and his birthplace of Palestine’. It had a passport photo of her father as well. Tagging Instagram on her story she questioned them asking what part about her being proud of her father is not according to the community guidelines. She questioned what part of it is bullying, graphic, or sexual nudity.

Bella further added asking whether she is not allowed to be Palestine on Instagram. She said this is bullying and they cannot silence people by erasing history. Bella has Palestian and Dutch heritage. She said, ‘This, to me, is bullying. You can’t erase history by silencing people. It doesn’t work like that.’

Bella also shared a screenshot of Instagram telling her the post was against community guidelines. She shared a generic response from the social media platform that says ‘We removed your story because it goes against our Community Guidelines on harassment or bullying. We have these guidelines because we want our community to feel respected and safe.’

It is still not clear why Instagram removed her post which was not against any community guidelines. However, she was flooded with a lot of support from her fans. A fan wrote that they are sick of social media platforms not allowing Palestinian content. Another fan pointed out sarcastically that her father’s passport considered hate speech because he was from Palestine.

‘What part of telling people your ethnicity counts as ‘hate speech’? You can’t say this was a mistake,’ another added.

Bella reposted the image on social media and urged her fans to post about where their parents were born. She told them to remind them how proud you are of where you come from. This post however she remains on the social media platform.
