John Cena

Backstage Information Regarding John Cena’s WrestleMania 39 Status

On the December 30 edition of “WWE SmackDown,” John Cena will make his long-awaited return to the squared circle, effectively continuing his impressive streak of wrestling in every consecutive year since 2002. Many people hope that Cena’s appearance isn’t just a one-time thing. With WrestleMania 39 rapidly approaching, the WWE Universe hopes that “The Champ” will demonstrate his in-ring progress in the same place he’s spent a lot of time in recent years: Hollywood.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 16-time World Champion is expected to work the event, which will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. According to the report, Cena will be unavailable for in-ring appearances for the majority of February and March because he will be filming a movie outside of the United States. This timeline would also preclude Cena from competing at WWE Elimination Chamber in February, as the premium live event is held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Regardless of his acting obligations, WWE is apparently under the assumption that Cena is “operating on his schedule” to guarantee his appearance at WrestleMania 39. At this time, Cena’s WrestleMania appearance is unknown, but a match with Austin Theory was discussed before Vince McMahon’s retirement this summer. Cena made appearances on the June 27 edition of “WWE Raw” to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his debut in the company, though he did not wrestle. He faced Theory in a backstage segment, but there was no follow-up story.

John Cena & Kevin Owens

On the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown in Tampa, Florida, John Cena & Kevin Owens will face Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn of The Bloodline in a match that will be of epic proportions for WWE in 2022. The contest was set up in the closing moments of the 12/16 WWE SmackDown, when Reigns revealed that he and Zayn would compete against Owens and an unidentified partner at WWE’s final event of 2022.

Cena abruptly made an appearance on the TitanTron to read a text message that Owens had sent to him. Surprise! Through a satellite, Cena addressed The Bloodline. You must be a little taken aback to see me. Since everyone enjoys a good holiday surprise during this time of year, you can imagine how surprised I was to receive a text message from my longtime friend Kevin Owens.
